I just programmed my comcast remote for my Samsung v1000, My comcast remote is very similar to the 3-in-1, but has a few more buttons on it (on the Comcast site, my remote looks like the DVR 3 remote, but I don't have a DVR). The code I used was 21044.
By using this code, the play/stop/rewind/ff buttons all work. I didn't test the record button. The Info button worked as "Display" and Exit button to work as Audio Source (HiFi/Mono). However, the Volume and Channel controls did not work.
If using the comcast remote to control your dvd player, then review comcast manual for the codes for dvd. If the manufacture isn't listed or the codes don't work, then there might be a range of codes in the manual you can try. Otherwise you can contact your dvd manufacture on purchasing a new one or get a learning remote.
Since the codes that Comcast gave you did not work, there is a very high possibility that the remote control is not compatible with the DVD player. You cannot expect universal remote control to work with all devices, regardless of its make. Philips does not have codes for this DVD player because it is the maker of the universal remote control that sets the codes.
