HP Pavilion N5495 - broken power receptacle for input jack

I have just been given an HP Pavilion N5495. The thing wrong with it is the power receptacle for the input jack is just a blank hole - like the structure of it is punched out. Do you think this is readily fixable at not too great an expense? What type of place should I contact for repair? An feedback would be appreciated. Not much money to work with and it seems like this would be worth fixing. Thanks. Victor

Try opening it and see if the jack was pushed into the inside.

Ok i was given this hp pavilion n5495 as the old owners where getting rid of it but it has a bios password set and i cant find any battery for cmos reset and the only jumper there is doesnt do a thing so...

To be honest with you, HP would be your best option to get the password removed BUT whoever's name it's registered in, they are the ones that would have to call to get it removed otherwise your only option at that point is to get another motherboard.

HP N5495 can I get another motherboard that will support 2 to 3 gigs ram?

Hi,

Sorry but the answer is no. Laptop motherboards are specific to a certain model of model family.

All the HP models in that family only support 1GB of ram (2x512MB)

You would have to purchase a new computer that supports over 2GB of ram.

Regards.

I am trying to do a system restore on an HP Pavilion n5495. I have tried F11 and this does not work. I do not have a recovery disc. Is there a way to do a system restore without going into Windows?

You need to do a backup first
With windows you can just do it through system tools (under accesories).

You can avoid doing it through GUI by using command line but it's still going through windows.

When you restart your PC you can open the POST window by pressing the key shown on screen (usually F11 or DEL) and start windows in safe mode. Thats if your having problems with accessing data
