Question about HP CPQ175KB Keyboard

1 Answer

Letters are black on a bronze keyboard and are difficult to see

Just purchased an HP pavillion laptop and realize that the keyboard is difficult to read at certain angles. Are there other letters that we can affix on top...like white and where can they be purchased? Or what is another solution.

Maybe your using a table that is too high or too low for the laptop try to use certain level where you can use it and read the keyboard properly.

I couldn't find your laptop's model number at hp.com.
Are you sure that's the right model #?

At any rate, if hp.com doesn't have the parts, I would try Ebay.com for the keyboard. Maybe someone has the keyboard available for sale.

I'm not sure about the matt finish vs. the shiny.

Good luck on this repair.

Not me, I love the keyboard.

But then, I have always liked "flat" laptop-like keyboards. They have lighter action and the transition from a desktop a laptop is much smoother. BTC also makes a scissor-action keyboard that is very similar to this one.

Keys on my hp pavillion dv4 (bronze) are very difficult to read. Is it feasible to replace the keys?

Not the key caps -- the part that has the writing on it. But it is feasible to replace the entire keyboard with a new one. If you have use the keyboard enough to wear the writing off, then you have JUST about used up all the life that keyboard has to offer!!!

It sounds like you need to replace the keyboard. Replacing the keyboard is not difficult or you can take it to a repair center. Parts can be ordered online from HP or aftermarket vendors.

Some letters can't be typed

You need to replace the whole keyboard since the 4 letters is not working at all. You cannot change only 4 letter keys from your laptop.

Note: If machine is under warranty no need to pay for the repairs.
