Game freezes just my desktop computer

I would check to see if there is a flash update or a java update. Usually facebook games use one of these to run their games. I would start with flash.

You can be having boot sector problems in your hard drive, or you are not running sufficient RAM to run the game you are playing. Freezing happens when the 'Brain' cant find what it is expected to do next. How much ram do you have? Did you check the system minimums for the game b4 you installed it? Newer games are designed to work with hi tech machines and tend to confuse older machines by their demands.

install more ram. i hate to bash on a pc manufacturer but emachines tends to go with lowest bidder parts. it's probably your graphics that can't keep up and it may be overheating or overloading the cache/buffer. if you give me your model number and what game you're playing i can verify this. you need to make sure your system has supports the minimum requirements for the game

Something that I do for all of my games is to right-click on the shortcut or the .exe for the game, and change the Compatibility settings to disable Desktop Composition and visual themes, because those take resources from the game. Some of my games have doubled in performance because of it, but that may be because I have a weaker computer than you. This did help specifically with Portal in my case.

First thing to do I guess is check your GPU temperature.
Use GPU-Z and see what it says when idling and under load.
Else try checking for newer or older drivers, maybe it's driver related.

When you say the screen freezes, do you mean the entire computer freeze, forcing you to reboot it? Or did the game freeze, and you're able to ALT+TAB or CTRL+ALT+DELETE your way out of the program?
If the whole computer froze, it's likely to be a heat-related problem on your CPU or GPU. You can check your temperature using several utilities, such as Speedfan or Everest, or very likely in your BIOS as well. Different CPUs have different overheating temperatures, but usually they shouldn't be above 80 degrees C at extreme load times.
If it's above that, try cleaning your fan using a can of compressed air (You can buy that at any computer shop), moving your cables inside your computer for better air flow, or (as a last resort) open the side of your computer case.
If it's only the game that froze, and not the whole computer, you could check your graphics drivers, or check for any patches for the game itself.
