What is required to hook the E120 up to my PC to get updated?
I bought a used boat with the E120 & no Navionics card as the old owner kept it & I was taking the boat to the other side of the country. In trying to get the E120 to read my gold card (won't) I thought an update would possibly solve my problems?
I am confident the card is installed properly & there are no bent pins.
Thanks in advance for any assistance, I am not an IBM or I.T guru so layman's terms please?
Your problem is the 4GB card. The Raymarine C-Series have a problem with their compatability tool and larger CF cards. You should use a card no bigger than 256mb.
The card probably worked in the store because the newer models accept larger cards.

I am guessing that the card you are using is a NAVIONICS chart? There have been some Lowrance units that were made around the same time that have had problems recognizing a Navionics chart right from power up.
Make sure the LMS-332 has the latest firmware version which can be downloaded from http://www.lowrance.com/en/Products/Marine/Full-Size-SonarGPS-Chartplotter-Combos/LMS-332C/Downloads/LMS-332C-Software-Update/
If the update doesn't help, this is going to be a compatibility problem with the LMS-332 and that particular card. You will need to replace the card or upgrade to a newer unit...but probably can just get used to removing and replacing the card when you turn the unit on.
Dependant on the type of unit you have, you can order MMC or SD cards from several companies. I have used Navionics with much success. They have a buy-back program where you can get a discount towards the latest cards when you turn in your old ones. Also, if you have a memory card device, you can access tons of lakes directly from the Lowrance website. Then save to acard and load into you boats unit.
I had the same problem with my handheld Lowrance Hunt C. After installing the card and locking it in place, I had to slide the card "out" toward the locking mechanism. It barely moves, but worked after that. Whenever I load the card, I now slide it out and it works every time.
