Question about Panasonic Viera TH-50PZ80U Plasma TV

Panasonic Plasma with C.A.T.S Feature is Causing IR sensor issue

I'm a Comcast Cable Tech. I was sent to a customers home to check a DVR/Remote issue. after about an hour of troubleshooting, swapping the DVR and several remotes, I realized that the problem was caused by Pannosonic Plasma's C.A.T.S feature. The problem the customer was experiencing was our DVR remote would intermittently opporate the set top box. When I turned the TV off, but left the set top box on, the remote keys worked without a problem. What I discovered was when C.A.T.S. is disabled, we experience the IR issue, when C.A.T.S. is enabled the problem goes away, but it resulted in a much dimmer resolution on standard deffinition channels. Another Tech experienced the same issue with a SHARP AQUOS wich has a similar feature (OPC). The strange thing about his issue was IR interference occurred when OPC is enabled but no IR issues when disabled. Sharp is aware of their issue but I have not been able to find any answers from Pannosonic. Any info you might have would be greatly appriciated.

Thank you,

Joe

SOURCE: Viera Link not work between two brand new Panasonic devices

You need to select setup from the TV menu then switch the Viera link on. I think retuning must have switched it off.

Comcast DVR caused house to blow a fuse

Hi Karen,
Based on your issue I believed your DVR was already damaged too due to electrical issue. You may want to talk to their Tech support in order for them to replace your box, anyway it is free swap to the new one. I was previous Comcast Tech Support that is why I know their process. Contact them here 1-800-XFINITY(1-800-934-6489). or you can visit their website here:

I have a problem with my Panasonic CT-27SX12 27"

On remote you must push the TV button first then the on button to activate or deactivate the TV. Channel or volume on the TV does not need to select anything on remotes.

I have bose v30, dishnetwork 612 dvr. When

I recommend you switch from using HDMI cables to using component (R/G/B RCA-style) cables. HD picture is superior through component cabling, and solves several HD picture issues.

What is happening is that when video resolution changes (like from regular programming to commercials) the video information is poorly sent down the HDMI line. Component cabling from your DVR will eliminate this problem.

I hope that helps.

From what you have written, when you try to record on your DVR the remote stops working, is that correct? How long has this been happening? Have you received a new remote? If yes and it is still happening, you are probably getting IR interference from some source in that room. It could be from a florescent lamp, another player, or even the TV. Is the receiver in a open space or in an enclosed area? The IR sensor has to have a direct line of sight to work properly. You may also check on the receiver if anything is obstructing the sensors, maybe dust. I hope this helps.

Panasonic 42" connected to comcast dvr, and dvd player

To solve need more info if this is still a problem.
Is your comcast dvr connected directly to the tv, and also the DVD connected directly to the TV?
If so then you will need to change the input selection on your tv remote to determine which inputs these devices are connected to.
If you are connected differently, please post how your devices are connected.
