Lcd 17" veiwsonic power problem

If i plug this unit in . it just blinks green. If i unplug it , it blinks green 3 to four times for 1 sec at a time. the four or 5th blink is a little longer, if i catch it just right by pluging it back to the lcd on the 4th time it will stay on for good, till i shut it off. other than that you can shut it off with the power button, but it will start blinking again. Iam guessing its a leakly cap.

IBM L190 LCD - the LED beside the power button corner cycles green for 1 second, off for 1 second as soon as it is plugged in. The unit won't power up, the LED just cycles green/off whenever it is plugged...

It's clear the problem is the display, but you can still try these 1. unplug and replug while the both is on 2. turn on, off couple of times 3. keep the LCD on for about one hour these are anyway temporary fixes :(

Damn Blinking!

You can buy a used monitor about $50.00 in the US. or You should take the monitor to an authorized repairman. IT IS NOT recommended to fiddle by banging a defective unit WHICH has HIGH voltage running through it.

Monitor blink

1. this is may be due to the 5 volt power supply. which may be down. the current u can measure is ok (5volts) but the ampers may be down. because in off or stand by position it consume very little current but at the time of self test it consume more then 900 milliamps. ( replace the regulator of 5 volt)
2. May be the EHT transformer drive transistors are short. check them, if there is any leakage or if they are short then replace them.

Veiwsonic 924x

This is a generic symptom that could happen to any LCD monitor.
The following is a generic answer applicable to most.

The most possible causes are bad capacitors or a bad semi-conductor.

Open the unit and check to see if any of the capacitors in the power supply or other boards look domed or vented on the top.

Replace any capacitors accordingly. Use the same value capacitors. Most often, 1000uF 16V or 25V, 470uF at 16 or 25V, 220uF at 16V or 25V.

If this doesn’t solve the problem, try checking the surface-mount transistors on the inverter board that run the lights. Some times these transistors go bad and can cause the power to cycle up and down. Check the area for any cracked or overheated ceramic or mylar capacitors.

Don’t forget to check for caps on the main board. Some times these boards are overly simple and only have a couple of caps, but other times they are teaming with them.

17" veiwsonic power blinking green

The flashing green power button is a well known electronic problem with this (and other) Viewsonic LCD monitors. There is a YouTube video (do a search) showing how to disassemble the VX924 and find out whether the problem is related to blown capacitors. When I took my VX922 apart I discovered 6 bad capacitors out of a total of 7 on the power supply circuit board.Only recommended for those handy with a soldering iron.

Acer AL1715 17" LCD Monitor

Certain versions of the Acer AL1715 monitor had a problem with the VGA socket. Specifically, the plastic case around the socket was not wide enough. The plastic interfered with the plug and so the plug did not seat properly. I fixed several of these monitors by shaving off some of the plastic with a dremel mototool. A hand file would probably work as well. You have to remove the plastic back to do the job.
