Remote stops working when TV is turned on.

I've had my Philips TV (model no. 47PFL7403D/27) for about 7 months. Sometime in the past week the universal remote control would only work with my cable box when the TV is off. When the TV is off, I can change the channel on my cable box (I can see the number change on the display in the front), but the second I turn the TV on, the cable box stops responding.

I've tried turning off the light sensor on my TV without any success. If I move the cable box away from the TV I can get it to start working again. But the cable box has to be at least 3 or 4 feet away (not very feasible).

So to me this obviously means that there's some sort of interference coming from the TV thats blocking the remote. Is there anything I can try at this point to fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated, I've talked to Philips and my cable provider and they are both clueless as to whats wrong.

    I also a rca..and just recently my romote stopped working..I have tried changing the baterries and also using a new remote..I also re-programmed it..but nothing is working

    Hi i had the same problem, i got the same tv and an iptv tv box, which didnt work when the tv is on. I then took all the automatic settings off, and also switch the easylink option off. I noticed that if i changed the scart connection of the tv box the problem went away for a little while.

Just bought a new 40in Philips and have a 42 in philips i bought a year + ago with the 40in there was a note in the box : addendum : Dear customer,
There is a possibility that your cable box may not operate correctly when the TV is on. If possible please move the cable box either to the side or under the TV. if this does not fix the issue, please contact our support center toll free at 866-309-0842 for an alternate soluttion.
so I did first guy said no problem what you need is an IR filter give me the model and serial # I will send you what you need. Called back with the info She answers and acts like she has know idea what I am talking about so I push harder,she checks and now she found it, but she can't send me one for the 42In its out of warranty. gives me another # to call which tells me to call yet another # and I am told they can't help me - LAST philips I will buy to bad nice TV

I bought philips model no. 47pfl7403d/27 in 2008 .Suddenly last month it started skipping picture but we could hear sound.After few days it started smelling like something is burning and it stopped...

Seal deal w/ ours. I took it apart and the power supply board had the burn marks on it. Just ordered another power supply board (pn: 272217100571) for ~ $100. TV back panel comes off fairly easily to get at boards.

I have the child lock on and the remote control is broken. How can I turn the tv on without the remote control

The power button on the TV doesn't work because of the child lock?
I went over the copy of your manual for your TV. It must be the child lock timer problem.
I would try leaving the TV unplugged for 30 mins and see if that reset the TV and releases the lock.
If it doesn't work, the remote needs to be replaced. A universal remotes aren't really universal when you need to use special buttons. The remote made for the TV is the best.
If your TV is the model 47PFL7403D, here's the cheapest place to buy a replacement.

Get a universal remote or go online and order a replacement original remote for your model. Then use the remote to enter the menu, unlock any child locks, make sure the set is in standard cable mode and do an autoprogram.
