The "quick" freeze shelf is not working and items that have been in freezer a couple days not completely froze.....HELP it is only 5 or 6 years old

THERE ARE A NUMBER OF THINGS THAT COULD CAUSE THIS. ONE WAY IS TO CHECK AND SEE IF THE UNIT IS DEFROSTING PROPERLY. REACH INTO THE FREEZER AND PUSH ON THE BACK WALL, IF IT MAKES A CRUNCH SOUND THE COILS ARE PROBABLY FROZEN AND THE DEFROSTER IS NOT WORKING. THE DEFROSTER ON SOME GE SIDE BY SIDES ARE A SMALL GLASS TUBE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE FREEZER, THERE IS A COIL OF WIRE INSIDE THAT GLOWS RED HOT WHEN THE DEFROST IS ACTIVATED. IT IS A PIECE OF JUNK. I REPLACED MINE ONCE FROM GE WHEN IT BURNED OUT I BOUGHT A METAL UNIT FROM AN INDUSTRIAL SUPPLY HOUS FOR LESS AND HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT.
IF THE COMPRESSOR IS NOT RUNNING YOU MAY HAVE OTHER PROBLEMS. I'D PUT MONEY ON THE DEFROST THOUGH. HOPE THAT HELPS.

WOW (Thank you!) obviously you had to pay someone to do this and sent your results to us! So many time the incorrect model number or brand gets to us first because there more than one million combinations of brands. Second if one number is listed wrong the hours of search becomes useless.

I'm saving this one in my personal files to go back to. Five Stars to you. Thanks, Sea Breeze

My GE side by side refrigerator isn't working right. The freezer works great, but I can't get any coldness on the refrigerator side. Even at the highest cold setting.

Check your air door at the top left rear of your refrigerator side. If no air is flowing try opening it by hand while you are there. Also check the freezer for a fan sound to be sure your fan isnt stuck or dead.

MY GE GSH22JFTABB WONT GET COLD

Sir, To solve this problem, you must open the compressor area at the back bottom of the refrigerator and chek the temperature of the pressure line. If the temperature is between 55celcius to 60 than its ok. Or else you need to change the refrigerant. I suggest you to contact the service authority.

Thanks for contacting Fixya.

Frezer cold ref is not

The refrigerator gets cold air from the freezer. There is a small vent in which cold air make its way to the refrigerator from the freezer. make sure that vent is not blocked by ice or something.

There is a vent that gets clogged. The easiest way to fix it is to let it thaw for 24 hours (open-48 would be better). This is much ceaper that calling for a tech. Cold air from the freeezer is what keeps the fridge side cold.
