Check your buffer speeds. take them from the highest and lowest on sample rates. make sure your ram fits the bill.

You need to have old 1394 driver files that came with XP install CD

If you want I can guide you step by step how to do it.
There is nothing wrong with your sound card or the driver.
Its just a windows bug that vista had..

DEAR SIR/MADAM WHEN I TRY TO RECORD MY VOICE VIA MICRO PHONE SINGING WHILE THE CD MUSIC TRACKS ARE PLAYING I COULD NOT RECORD THAT TO THE MINI DISC.PLEASE ADVISE ME HOW COULD I CONNECT IT DIGITALLY

It is much easier to use an analog mixer and microphone thru the mixer. I would plug the microphone into the mike input on the mixer and then the Karaoke machine to stereo LINE inputs on the the Mixer, then Mixer Output or Tape Output on the mixer to analog LINE IN on the MiniDisc recorder.
Let me know if you need more info.

Problem getting the sound from my pv6 mixer to my computer. i have windows 7. are they compatible or did i get ripped off?

Assuming you have the PV6 USB, the manual doesn't indicate compatibility with any Windows version beyond Vista. But, it's hard to imagine it not being compatible with Windows 7. What recording software are you using?

Have you tried playing the tape in another device? Adjusting the recording volume if that is an option? Look for the user manual pdf online and also try a brand new or different brand tape to ensure that is not the problem.

Cant get my tapco link midi 4x4 to be found by my PC w/vista.

TapcoLINK help:
I found this on www.recording.org
http://recording.org/home-recording-forum/39765-tapco-link-usb-and-tracktion-2-a.html

Ok first thing. Unplug any USB devices not pertinent to recording when you want to record. Second, left click Start->right click Computer and select properties. Left click on Device Manager (left column). Look for your Tapco mixer and see if it has any red X or error message. It might be that it isn't completely installed correctly. Also in the Device Manager at the top, click View and select Show Hidden Devices. Look for something under "non plug and play devices" (I think) called Mackie Subunit or some garbage like that. I'm traveling so I don't have any Mackie gear to plug in to verify. Anyway, this is the bit that actually interfaces with the Windows sound in Vista and Win7. You may have to manually install the driver as Windows says it doesn't need one. Right click and select update driver.
-Browse my computer for driver software
-Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
-Click "Have Disk" and browse to whatever folder you dowloaded the Tapco drivers to.

How do I hook up my tascam fw1082 to a mixing board?

Hi, There are two ways you can connect it up. You have a TRS (Tip Ring Sleeve) monitor output that could be patched into the inputs of any analog mixer, balanced high level inputs.
You also have a S/PDIF stereo out. If a digital mixer doesn't accept S/PDIF you can get a converter to change S/PDIF to an AES, which any pro digital mixer will work with. I think HOSA has one for about $60.00, you might find something on Ebay as well.
Here is a Link to the TASCAM Spec page for you FW-1082

I hope this helps,
Best Regards,

TASCAM 144 is not a soundcard, but an audio interface

You are correct, there is no "voice generator" within the Tascam US-144.  It can simply transmit the very primitive note-on note-off type data to a Sound Module or keyboard (like a Roldan SoundCanvas), and then that would generate the actual waveforms.
A SoundCanvas would suit your needs well, as you could run the midi out to this voice generator, and then run the stereo output of that back through the Tascam and into the computer for recording.

Tascam CD-RW4U

Try adjusting the input level so the meter stays close to 0 when recording. It sounds like the levels are too hot.

you might want to downgrade to xp because vista uses alot of ram to run it. you could also get more ram. you need about 1gb and a half to 2 gigs to run most recording softwares and interfaces. i personally use vista cause i lost my xp disk and i got 2 gbs of ram and everything runs great, but if you really want to get into recording do what im doing and save up and buy a mac.
