Question about Epson Stylus 2200 InkJet Photo Printer

1 Answer

Epson 2200 stops after an inch or two of the print

I've been printing the same files for years, now it can take over 20 min to print 2 inches and then quits or it quits after a few lines. This is only with high quality printing. It will print a test print, with pauses and a quick print on plain paper, with many pauses.
Trouble shooting I've done:
disconnected and shut down the printer
deleted the printer and reinstalled it with a new driver
replaced the usb cable
had a computer guy come in and he moved my spooler to a dif. register, worked for a day after that.
any ideas?
thanks so muchf

When I go to print several pages spit out and the the red light comes on. Simply stop you press the red light and it simply feed out another page. Does not solve my inability to print a page.

Sounds a lot like spooler issues which may be related to your computer and the hard drive rather than the printer.

I'd recommend defragging your hard drive using:
START > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter

Run that on your hard drive partitions until it's finished (go do the laundry, ironing, clean the house while it works because it will just slow you down trying to work on it).

Also worth checking you have enough hard drive space and no disk errors... If you do I'd talk to your computer guy about cloning to a new drive with a bigger drive... It's a job of a couple of hours and drives are very cheap now for big capacities...

It can't hurt... but as I said, sounds a lot like a computer problem rather than a printer one.

My Epson 2200 prints leaving horz bands about every 1/2 inch. I have not usrd the printer for over a year but did install allnew ink.

Your print head probably has crusted ink on it, as the heads are built into Epsons. If you have tried cleaning, deep cleaning, and then priming (the last 2 aren't available on all Epsons), and it is still banding, you have 2 options:
Disassemble the printer and soak the head in alcohol and hope it works OR get a new printer.
Heads on an Epson are too expensive to bother swapping out.

Faint one inch wide line appears at the same time, every time.

We've seen this problem in our shop. The document is "timing out" and the gap is where it restarts. You have to set the print manager to wait to print until the document is finished processing. Any large print will do the same thing. Try "pausing" the printer on your computer, then execute the "print" command in Photoshop, then go back to the printer control panel and "un-pausing" the printer.

Problem Printing Sheet Paper with the Epson 9800

On the machines control panel set to sheet fed (pressing the left button will change from Sheet, roll and roll with cut). In the print settings select your paper profile. On the page setup choose sheet. In the pull down menu you should only have basic paper sizes, no custom size. choose 20x30 and try again.

let me know if this helps

Inkjet photo printing

This may sound idiotic, but print out a nozzle check pattern in your maintenance tab. Good chance you have a clogged printhead. Check out how to do a print head cleaning and what solutions and tools you'll need. Careful if you're using compatible inks or refilled cartridges, or long expired ink.

This one works great for me. Go GENTLY, best not to use Windex or any unauthorized solutions, as they may cause damage to plastic parts.
