NDS lite has the power(green lite flashes), but screens wont lit

Hi,

When you switch the DS lite on you should notice that one of the screens flashes... if thats correct then the screen that doesn't flash is the one that will need replacing which, I would assume is the upper screen as judging by what you say has a damaged ribbon.

I replaced the top lcd screen on my son's Nitendo DS lite and now when I turn it on the bottom screen flashes and shuts off. What is wrong with it?

Hello!

The bottom screen flashes because something is still wrong with the upper lcd

Make sure you didnt put a rip in the upper lcd. The smallest rip will mess it up.

Also, make sure the cable is in completely.. If its off the slightest cm , it'll cause the lower lcd to blink which causes the DSlite to not work

Ds lite flashes on but fuses are ok

One or both your screens have blown.

Try removing the motherboard from the screens and attach the battery the green light should turn on and stay on.

Now attach the lower screen and turn on. If the screen is ok the screen and green light will flash and then turn off. (if the screen doesn't flash the bottom screen is you're problem and will have to be replaced)

If this happens the problem is then you're top screen which you will have to replace.

Wont turn on

I'll quote GBATemp here:

symptom:
the ds lite powers up for a brief instant, but then shuts off
potential solution:
disassemble the lower shell and check the connections of upper and lower displays (all three flexible cable connections).

Unit not powering up

You have a defective LCD screen that makes a short circuit (thats the flashing green led)
Mostly the upper LCD screen is the problem.
You cab replace the LCD screen by buying one (ebay) and use a manual found on youtube but you need to have the skills. If not, please find someone that can repair it for you

Green Light Flashes

Possible you have a defective LCD screen. Could be the upper or the lower. Personally i think the upper (broken LCD Flatcable)

Case mod then a lose of power.

Easy solution, not so easy to fix yourself. the problem is your upper lcd screen, (yes your upper lcd), once the lcd is damaged, most likly from rolling the ribbon threw the hinge.the system will flash from the bottom screen, this is the start up screen. this i know for i've fix over 100 systems, you can have it fixed on ebay for $45.00, look under repair service nintendo ds lite (texas)

Nintendo DS lite

Baakie,

You turn de DS Lite on, the green light flashes and the unit turned of. Is that correct?

The DS Lite checks some things before he starts-up. One of these things are the screens. the DS sends a signal to it and expect an answer back. When this answer is not received, it shuts down.
The most common problem in these cases is the flatcable of the upper screen.
Question is, did you replaced the housing? If so, you might dammaged the flatcable of the upper screen. If not, the flatcable might be defective because of using the DS Lite a lot (open /close the unit).

So first check the flatcable of the upper screen (google and you will find manuals how to open the DS Lite but be carefull!!!!)

Second, on the mainboard are two fuses (F1 and F2) . Check these! One of them might be defective

Success

Lower screen flashes when power is turned on

That means the upper screen cable is either broken or not insert it right. If you try to insert it all the way and it still doesn't work, then you will need to buy a new top LCD to replace it. Thanks.
