There are actually two thermal fuses. One on the heating element and then one on the blower housing. This is located on the bottom right front of the dryer which means the front has to come off. If you've gotten the top off the front is a piece of cake

Sounds like the "cycling thermostat" is bad. Check it for continuity. Here is the part to order in case it is bad.

Maytag dryer model PYE4558AYW. Stopped running, and no light in drum. Getting power. Timer switch continues to work. Fried Timer?

first off check to see if you don;t have a breaker tripped in your breaker box ! also make sure there is 220v going to the recept.
then with unit unplugged remove the back cover to see if there is a wire burnt on the motor start switch which is common will be a red or a orange wire. if all that checks out then sounds like a timer issue

Our Maytag Intellidry PYE4558AYW dryer will not turn on

Check the door interlock switch. If it is defective, the machine will not start. If no help, then there may be trouble in the control panel.

MAYTAG DRYER PYET444AYW HAS NO POWER...IS THERE AN INTERNAL FUSE?

There is an internal fuse. It is called a Thermal Fuse. It is not resetable it is only replaceable. It is located in the back of the dryer. Unplug the dryer and locate the thermal fuse and replace it. Two wires conect the to it. Also I would check the breaker to the dryer. Thanks and good luck. I you need futher assistance let me know and we will get through this together.

Electric Maytag Neptune Dryer not heating up.

If the dryer won't heat up, the problem is typically either a blown thermal fuse or a faulty heating element. The thermal fuse is located just inside the back of the dryer on or near the exhaust duct. It is about one inch long. The thermal fuse and heating element can be tested using an ohm meter or multimeter. These components should have continuity. If either does not, that component is faulty. There is no telling if the moving around of the machine caused the problem or if the timing of the problem was coincidental. Sure hope this helps ya and best wishes.

Where is the thermal fuse located?

In the back of the dryer. Look for the coiled heaters and follow the lead wires back to the fuse.

I bought the thermal fuse kit for this dryer (2 THERMAL FUSES)and replaced both of them. It came with an extra fuse for a gas dryer. It now works fine. Lift the top open. One is toward the rear of the dryer, the other is below the heating element as the other solution said.
