There should be a little switch on your memory card when you pull it out. Slide the switch the opposite direction. The switch is very small and usually on one of the sides. This is similar to how floppy disks had a write protection on them.

Even though i have a brand new sd memory card my Fujifilm Finepix Z camera still says "protected card" and won't let me do anything at all

Look at the memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

You should be able to read the card whether its protected or not. In fact I always protect the card before putting it into my computer so as to prevent the computer from doing anything to the card.

I have a nokia 6630 and i have a problem on my memory card, when i try to copy a song from a computer it says write disk protected. I tried formatting the memory card to my cellphone then put it back to...

Because the memory card that you used any a other program

The best Idea is to buy a new memory card and paste all the songs.

I hope this will work for you.

MY SD CARD WON'T LET ME PUT PICTURES ON IT FROM MY COMPUTER. IT SAYS IT IS WRITE PROTECTED. THE CARD IS NOT LOCKED. AND ALL MY CARDS SAY THE SAME THING. WHAT DO I DO.

Hi brenda28152 ,

This seems to be a problem where the write protect switch on your memory card in is on position.

The write protect switch disables the write feature from your flash drive or memory card, which means that you would not be able to put anything on your flash drive including pictures.

Therefore all you need to do is change the position of the write protection switch so that it's disabled and not write protected , and there you go , you can write files on your flash drive.

Please find the below images for more description , sajjad4help_1.jpegsajjad4help_2.jpeg

In case your problem in not solved do feel free to get back to me..

Hope this helps ..:) your feed back would be appreciated.

The camera reads memory card write protected and it won"t allow you to do anything else.

SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

Lock/read only card message

Make sure all the files from the memory card have been downloaded and saved to the computer. You are going to need to format the memory card to remove the write protect/read only/lock issue. By formatting this will permanently erase all data from the memory card so you are able to use it again.
To format the card: go to Menu - to Submenu - to Format option - Start - then Start again - Press Menu to initiate the process - When done the recorder will be able to be used for recording purposes again.
