Epson Stylus pro 4800 inkjet printer error codes and services. There are two types of error codes. Those indicating a maintenance issue that can usually be sorted out by resetting a counter or checking something is still OK after its nominal end of life. The second set are service errors that may need a technician to fix them, although many of them seem to respond to a certain amount of informed and sensible "fiddling" about; in some the descriptions indicate the action that should be taken to resolve the problem.:
Error Codes (Maintenance)
0002 Carriage Motor / Ink Tube end of life (Clear Carriage Motor Counter)
0004 Nozzle check error
0008 RTC error (Real Time Clock) (Check the Battery and reset the Date and Time)
0010 Multi Sensor Error
0020 Print Head life counter (Reset the Head counter)

Hi hiro
The encoder strip is a black strip next to the rod that the ink cartridges run on and it spans the entire rod length. The following website link will tell you how to clean the strip. Please note that even though the brand is different, the technique is still the same for your printer.

If paper gets jammed try these steps ...and for the encoder strip open thetop cover and look behind the cartridge carrier there will be transparent plastic thin strip ,check if its loose or broken ,please do not break it or you may not be able use the printer ...check for any dirt clean it damp paper towel and repeat the process with dry paper towel ...
1. Turn the printer off and open the access cover.
2. Look for any obstructions in the paper path and remove them if necessary. (It is possible to move the carrier assembly with the power off.)
3. Turn the printer on, load some paper, and press the Form Feed button.
4. Watch the paper as it feeds through and try to determine where the jam is occurring.
5. Check to see if all the rollers are turning.
If all the rollers are turning, there may be something in the feed path that you can't see. Go to step 6.
If not, there is probably a feed motor or a gear problem and the printer may require service.
6. If the paper is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot.
7. Turn the printer off.
8. Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers.
9. Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose.
Service Request errors in the range 00010004 - 000101D are related to a
carriage movement problem. In some instances like paper jams, the
carriage locking tab may be partially pushed in, causing the carriage
locking mechanism to put a drag on the carriage or lock the carriage
completely. This will cause a carriage error. Make sure the carriage
locking tab is pulled to the left. Then turn the printer’s power off
and release the carriage by pushing down on the cutter blade. Slide the
carriage to the left and look for any paper that also may be
restricting the carriage from moving freely.

sure it is clean and in the center of the encoder. Contact Epson for
additional assistance.
The current firmware corrects erroneous Service Request 00010007, which occurs after the power is first turned on. You can download this firmware upgrade from www.prographics.epson.com.
Hi and welcome to FixYa,
Your posted error indicates that the carriage is jammed. This could be brought about by:
Opening the printer cover would give you access to the encoder strip.
Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.
An example of an encoder strip is shown below.
