Help, I'm desperate for a solution. I have a quicktime file that has been
created on a mac with the settings listed at the end of this message. I am
trying to play and further process the file on a pc and get a error-2048
"not a movie file". The file has been copied directly from a dvd that will
play fine on a mac as well.

Same problem. 3 .mov files .Mov files before & after play. but these won't open in Windows, Real, Nero, and a couple of others I downloaded to try. I changed file ext, and back again, neither works. Fresh out of the camera to the file.
This is ridiculous, and don't bother looking for an answer at Quicktime. You won't get one.

I suggest you to install DivX on your system and play it. or play it by different player like real player or jet audio

Get divx or vlc media player.Vlc is open source and cross platform,it also supports just about every type of file there is.

My itunes does not start whwn i clicked on icon.

Here's some info that may help - picked up from other boards where similar problems reported.
First check to see if Quicktime works normally, iTunes will not work without it.
If Quicktime is OK, then use these troubleshooting articles: XP version http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1421 Vista version http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1717
Have you installed any of the following: ACE & K-Lite mega codecs package, QT alternative, Storm codec, WinAVI video converter, Mpcstar, (possibly starcodec pack, 3ivx)
If so uninstall them, they are know to cause problems with Quickitme. Then download the version of Quickime without iTunes: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html Now Remove Quicktime using the method for Quicktime in this article (just Quicktime): XP http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925 Vista http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 When you come to your C:\Windows\system32\ folder you can delete any file or folder with Quicktime in the name. Restart you computer Install the stand alone Quicktime and check if it starts. If it does you are in a position to find out if iTunes is OK.
If Quicktime is OK, do you get any error message when you try to start iTunes? If not, open your task manager after trying to start iTunes. Do you see iTunes.exe running on the processes tab. If there is no error and you see iTunes.exe running then iTunes is hanging and we need to look at a slightly different route.

Sometimes it is just a problem with the itunes database file when it won't open after an upgrade. Press and hold the shift key while trying to start itunes. Does it give you an option to choose or create a new library? http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iTunesWin/8.0/en/15502.html

Bonjour is a common cause of iTunes hanging at start up. i.e. silent launch failure with iTunes.exe running on the processes tab. You can uninstall bonjour if you don't need it. However it is required for sharing libraries and other things
You could also try uninstalling it, then downloading bonjour from Apple and installing it directly. http://support.apple.com/downloads/Bonjour_for_Windows

I have used cardrecovery 3.60 to recover photos and vidoes from my sd memory card of nokia 6120c, it had all videos in mp4 format. The result was fine about photos but about vidoes were all in mov format...

Ive talked it over with my associate, and we can only come up with..

mp4 is not a video format, it may play sound but no video, if you cant change the save type directly to your card, the you should try a diffrent card, i cant think of a way to fix this anyother way, i suggest you just buy a new one, they dont cost to much nowadays

if the videos were in mov format, then try update qt for the mov file, or install the codec needed for that .mov file, apple sucks so i really hope you find a way to avoid useing it lol, hope this was helpfull/solved, rate plz?

Can't open Quick Time

Apple sucks... and whats possible is that the video type is a .mp4 or something other than .mov, try just converting the video into an avi and use divx or even windows media player, btw if you own a mac, i have no idea what to tell you,

if that donst work when u uninstall quicktime, just makesure all files...ALL! files of qt are gone b4 u try to reinstall

hope that helps
