Not necessarily a refrigerator question  but I'll take a stab at it. the crock pot has an internal thermostat that cycles the heat off and on sounds like this thermostat has gone bad there is no repair you need to replace teh crock pot. thx for using FixYa! peyton

Low ice output

Low ice production has multiple causes. First check condensing coil to see if they are dirty and not passing air. This is the most probable cause for low ice production. Next, measure freeze cycle time and harvest time. Freeze time is typically 20 to 30 minutes and harvest time is normally 1.5 to 3 minutes. If freeze time is long (> 35 minutes), first check water valve shuts after reservoir is full. If it does not shut off the water solenoid operated valve needs replaced. Second, find the harvest solenoid operated valve which branches off the compressor discharge and port high temperature gas into evaporator during harvest and see that evaporator side of harvest valve cools down to surrounding temperature in a few minutes 8 - 10 after freeze cycle starts and harvest time stops. If it does not cool off the valve is leaking by its seat and will require a technician to replace. Lastly, if long freeze cycle could be due to low refrigerant and will require and tech to charge properly. Ice machine are critically charged and a tech will know how to charge the right amount. Again, it is possible the metering device is not passing enough refrigerant and a technician can determine this by checking the superheat and subcool. Low subcooling <3 and a high superheat >20 typically indicate an txv (metering devise) needs replaced and will require a tech to replace.

I own a Black & Decker Crock Pot. The Catalog #is SL0400 Type 1. The dials are Auto Off High keeps warm I do not have a manual and am at a loss as how to cook the food. Any help you can give me...

Hi Myrna,

The manual is available by clicking on this link:

http://useandcaremanuals.com/pdf/SLO40026.pdf

Don't forget you need to have Adobe Reader installed on your computer in order to read the file. If you don't, it can be downloaded from the Adobe site, www.adobe.com

If you haven't used the crockpot before, pre-use instructions are on page 3.
They reckon you should at least half fill the pot and not fill it more than 3/4 full.
The tips on page 5 suggest using the high setting for when you are at home and are cooking for short periods. Auto is best for when you are not at home. This starts of at a high heat and then reduces the heat after about 2 hours. I reckon though it's not safe to leave any electrical product like this turned on when not at home.
Recipes are on page 5 onwards.
Hope this helps !

No ice. Replaced filter, turned unit off and back on several times. Has now been 24 hours.

Turn off the freezer at the mains socket and unplug.
Leave it for 10 minutes.
Turn the freezer upside down for 10 minutes.
Turn it the right way up and plug in and turn on.
I know this may sound crazy but it can work if the problem is caused by the liquid in the cooler unit getting out of place.
Good Luck

My frigde is beeping consecutively and wont stop and the temperature wont show it just doesnt work ever since the electricity flickered this morning like five times

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.
Unplug it and wait 20 - 30 minutes. The compresor needs 10 to 15 minuts of off time to re-start. Power losses of less than 5 minutes will cause the compressor thermal overload to cycle repeatedly until something fails or in the case of non-electronic control defrost timers... the next defrost cycle. What happens is the coolant pressures are so high that the compressor can not start. Let it stabilize for 20 - 30 minutes by unplugging it and try it again. If that does NOT work respond here and we will help you.

This is what caused your problem: ever since the electricity flickered this morning like five times

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Refrigarator is not getting cold

well it could possibly a thermostat problem, but i think you will need to call out a service engineer to come and test it, also as i dont know wahat model you are talking about, it could be the gas pot on it's way out if you have a duel pot fridge freezer, but if not the thermostat would be my guess, not that expensive to fit, 10 minute job.

Frost on the low side line means the system is overcharged (too much freon).  Look on the tag insided the fridge and it will tell you how much freon it holds.  Usually 4.25-5.50 ounces on average.  The loud noise sounds like you have air in the system.  I would evacuate, from the high side while running, and let it run empty for 5-10 minutes.  Then while running put the valve core back in the high side.  Then unplug the fridge and charge with proper amount of freon thru the high side.  Wait about 5-10 minutes and plug back in.  Normal low side pressure should be 0-3 psi.  This is a good indicator of the proper amount of freon in a good working system.
