Question about Maytag MDE9700AYM Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Dryer will not work, has electrical power, but does not light up

The dryer worked fine earlier today, wife put a load in and came home to the dryer not working at all. I checked the curcit breaker and tested the plug and cord, shows it has power. there is not power to the insturment panel and shows no lights on the panel. the door is securely shut and there is no lint clog in the dryer hose or blockage that i can see. I have read through the owner manual and trooble shooting guide without any success in restarting the dryer.

Look for a fuse mounted beside the heater element. small black with 2 white wires attached, open and the dryer don work, but wait thers more... look into the blower assembly for blockage of lint or loose blower.

first things first. Electric dryers are 220v on a double breaker in your breaker box. (120v for the motor,120v for the heater element). When your dryer sparked, it probably tripped the breaker. Note: you REALLY need to buy a switch an get those exposed wires back inside of the dryer where they belong...just sayin'

Dryer wont start

if possible, with the door open, push the limit switch the door normally hits to let the drier know the door is shut. That switch may be bad.
