Question about Canon PIXMA iP90v InkJet Printer

Black ink will not print with canon pixma ip90v

Tried cleaning and deep cleaning....still nothing in black. when I do the print test, the black blocks will print, but some of the lines are missing, otherwise when I try to print with black, it doesn't work. Color prints fine. Wondering if this is worth trying to get repaired (and where to take it). the printer is 2 years old. thanks for any help you can provide.

Changed the black cartridge in my IP90v and now it won't print. Neither cleaning nor deep cleaning have resolved the issue.

Try sending Canon an email through their support website. I had same problem exactly, mine is 1 year old. They sent out a replacement unit for me today. It's worth a try.

Blocked print head nozzles
Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent blocked print head nozzles. You may have blocked print head nozzles.
Try the printer maintenance to clear the printer nozzles.
After several deep cleaning attempts and there is no improvements in the print then a new print head is required. Also try - Removing the print head, run it under hot water for 2 mins, then let soak for 10 min. then used a can of compressed air to dry thoroughly. It may fix the blocked nozzles.
A new print head maybe expensive and it maybe more cost effective to purchase a new printer.

I have a Canon pixma mp990 Recently it has stopped printing with the larger black ink cartridge that is meant for printing text (PGI-220BK) All the other cartridges print fine I was using a non-canon...

It looks to me that your non Canon cartridge has blocked the print head. I see this all the time. Remember the compatables are not pigment based but just watered down ink so you can get it to flow through a syringe into the cartridge. This however is the classic outcome of trying to save a few pennies on an expensive bit of kit!

Nothing is printing. It looks like there is no

Hi, To ensure this is only an issue with the black, I recommend printing off a nozzle check. This will show you if this problem is effecting any of the other colours.
To print a nozzle please refer to chapter 12 page 115 of the manual,

If colours are missing I recommend cleaning the print head. You have two options for cleaning the print head a normal clean and a deep clean, start by doing a normal clean if required try doing a deep clean.

    Replacing the print head
The print head may need replacing if, after all print head and ink tank troubleshooting has been performed:

    • The nozzle test appears broken or to have horizontal white streaks.
    • One or more of the colors is missing from the Nozzle Test.
    • The colors are incorrect on the Nozzle Test.
    • A print head error is indicated on the unit.
    • The printer powers off when the print head is installed.
    I hope it helps!!!
