Connecting an amplifier to the built-in front loader

You simply need a line level convertor.
It is tapped into the rear speaker(s) wire and converts the signal into a low-level RCA output your amplifier can use.
A good one will have a noise supression circuit built in.

Im unsure as to what size speakers will fit in my VW golf mk5, could you help?

Hello mattfeathers,

You did not specify the year of your mk5. The first model year sold in North America with either the standard or the Monsoon radio has 6 1/2" speakers in both the front and midpanel.

www.crutchfield.com has a great feature called "outfit my car" which will lead you directly to all of the speakers which will fit. They will also tell you if you need to drill any additional mounting holes, use any spacers or adapters, or use any special wiring harnesses. If you purchase from them, Crutchfield includes any such incidentals at no additional cost. And if you are a new Crutchfield customer, and use a "friend referral code", such as mine, which is p7sdj-hrx8q-9800g, and your order totals $200 or more, you get a $20 discount. And I get a $20 merchandise credit on a future order.

Hope this helps.
