Re: Forgotten User Password
I'm going to write this in steps... i'll post the first part here as a solution and i'll add comments to that as we go along, so it's not too overwhelming for you, just post a comment when you're ready for the next step...
remember, you will have to re-install everything, you will have to reconfigure your internet connection and network if you have one, all that... ok? yes? so here we go....
get your windows install disk and put it in your computer while it's off, then boot your computer. if you don't get a message asking if you want to boot from the cd then we will have to go into the bios setup and change things... more complications, so try to boot from the cd first and let me know how it goes...

Few different ways to get back in; Start in Safe Mode (F8 at startup) and access the admin account by pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL and typing in Administrator for user name and leaving the password blank, 2) download Hirens Boot CD and use the NT offline password changer to remove the password for the account 3) use another admin account to change the password and finally 4 ) add to domain from guest account and take over the admin account from there (not going into step by step for that one)
As far as I know, You can reset windows user account password in safe mode(F8 when booting up). But if you forgot administrator password, you must reinstall windows OS or use the "Windows Password Seeker". Official site: http://www.passwordseeker.com
Hold down Ctrl and Alt and then hit the Del key
twice, it should take you to an advanced log on screen. Clear the name
and type in administrator in the user name pane, leave the the password
pane blank and hit enter.
It should now take you through to
admin account. Go to the control panel>User Accounts and from there you can change or
completely remove the password.
are you using windows XP if you are log into safe mode tap f8 upon powering the system till you get windows advance menu select safemode, in safemode log in try logging in as admiistrator leave password field blank if it logs in go to control panel and click user accounts change or manage user accounts select you log in with the lost password change the password or better remove the password then restart system log in using the user name u normaly use if it log directly that is good then ccreat a new password under that account profile ^_^ this should work but for vist and win7 it might be imoissuble to log into an administrator account you must at least know the password if you created one if not then reinstalling vista and win7 is the final option ^_^
When you get to the log on screen, press the ctrl+alt+del combo twice. You should get another log on screen, change the user name to administrator, all lower case. leave the password blank and see if you can log on. Most people leave the administrator password blank...? If that gets you in, go to control panel, user accounts and change the password on your user account. Log off as administrator and log back in on your regular user name with the new password. Hope that works!
Try to get your hands on a windows installation disc, or even the recovery disc that came with the computer. If you get the windows installation disc, you can reinstall windows onto it. That is basically what you can do.
