Forgotten User Password

Ctrl + alt + Del twice, then using the admin. account didn't work, neither did trying to get into safemode. What other ways are there?

No I haven's, but I don't believe they start it because they couldnt the problem was inside the computer, the charger connecter had broke off. I don't have alot of data, and if so feel free to delete it I wont need any of it. Besides I don't know who repaired it, i sent it threw my friend to get it fixed by his dads friend. I'll do it, what're the steps?

well, they involve downloading some software to hack your computer... and that's always a bit risky, so before i post anything on that, i have to ask...

have you called the shop where you had your laptop fixed to ask them how they got into your computer to fix it, or why it restarts when you try to get into safe mode?

one more question, do you have a lot of data on that laptop that you want to keep... there is one more solution, which is to re-install windows, that would mean re-installing all your programs and possibly losing your data, though not necessarily... i just did it today on an old laptop of mine today, and while i will have to re-install my programs, all my personal data is still there.

i can explain how to do this, but it will be a lot of work for you... will you try the phone call to the person who repaired your computer first?

I'm going to write this in steps... i'll post the first part here as a solution and i'll add comments to that as we go along, so it's not too overwhelming for you, just post a comment when you're ready for the next step...

remember, you will have to re-install everything, you will have to reconfigure your internet connection and network if you have one, all that... ok? yes? so here we go....

get your windows install disk and put it in your computer while it's off, then boot your computer. if you don't get a message asking if you want to boot from the cd then we will have to go into the bios setup and change things... more complications, so try to boot from the cd first and let me know how it goes...

well then you'll have to go to this page:

and scroll down until you get to Free Password Recovery Tools

read everything very carefully and then have a look at the 5 programs linked to from there... pick the one you that seems the least invasive and most compatible to your system.. it will depend on your file system, operating system etc...

alright then ayel... go for it! it's 3 am here and i need some sleep ;)

good luck and let me know how it goes!

just a note for anyone else reading this.... if you prefer to re-install windows, there is a way to do it with low risk of data loss... if you're not sure what to do, just post something here and i or someone else will help you through it.

he mentions some free programs there...

try this page, there are commercial, shareware and freeware tools, i'm sure one of them will do the trick! just look over the reviews before using... to find the one with the least problems.

if that's no good, maybe someone else here has a sure fire solution for you...

which program did you decide to download? there should be some specific instructions that come along with the program, or that are on the website where you downloaded it.

i can talk you through the re-installing of windows, but i haven't used a password find program myself, however...

most likely you will have to create a bootable disk in your pc with the program then boot your laptop with it to get the codes. you'll need to make the bootable disk a cd, as i'm guessing your laptop doesn't have a floopy drive, or plug in an external floppy drive if you have one.

in either case you may have to go into your bios setup to tell the computer to boot from the cd or floppy.

let me know if you need more help on this.

I have forgotten my old password to log on

Start the computer and get to the logon screen.

Hold down Ctrl and Alt and then hit the Del key twice, it should take you to an advanced log on screen. Clear the name and type in administrator in the user name pane, leave the the password pane blank and hit enter.

It should now take you through to admin account. Go to the control panel>User Accounts and from there you can change or completely remove the password.

Good luck and kind regards.

Laptop forgotten password

When you get to the log on screen, press the ctrl+alt+del combo twice. You should get another log on screen, change the user name to administrator, all lower case. leave the password blank and see if you can log on. Most people leave the administrator password blank...? If that gets you in, go to control panel, user accounts and change the password on your user account. Log off as administrator and log back in on your regular user name with the new password. Hope that works!

Forgotten User Password

Try to get your hands on a windows installation disc, or even the recovery disc that came with the computer. If you get the windows installation disc, you can reinstall windows onto it. That is basically what you can do.

Locked out from pc? forgot password? how to change password?

If you are using Windows XP Professional there is an Admin Account Hidden. Thats if it isnt the current one.
Start your computer and repeatedly hit F8 for boot changes, start in "Safemode" or "Directory Services and Repairs"
If the Welcome screen shows Hit Ctrl+Alt+Del twice to get classic logon screen then Type Admin and if there is a Password enter it.

If you do log in, you should have the ability to change the account Password or create new one.

If you are Using XP Home Edition then theres not much luck unless you can think of the PW.
Your Best bet is to Backup and Reinstall Operating System
