GDL20KCSABS bottom freezer loud clicking in back/lights blinking

The refrig and freezer are cold, but the box on the back has a loud continuous click and the inside lights blink with each click...the clicking only lasted a few minutes at first, now it clicks for hours.

GE apparently has the same issue with power supply capacitors that plagues the computer industry. I have fixed 2 GE refrigerators motherboards with the clicking relay issue in the last year. Look for the bulging/leaking capacitors by a small transformer in the power supply section of the motherboard. These caps were labeled C29 and C30 and are 470 UF 25v electrolytic radial lead caps. Can be purchased a radio shack for about 2 bucks. These caps are easy to replace with simple soldering skills. My fridge is about 3 years old.

You have a bad motherboard the clicking noise is coming from the lights relay. the part# is WR55X10656 it is a plug and play part so you can do it yourself. Vegetables in crisper are frozen, as well as liquids in bottom 1/2 of fridge door. The fridge & freezer temp controls won't adjust to our settings. Also, we're getting ice, but no water will dispense.

The freezer cools the refrigerator, so you actually get very cold air passing from the freezer to the refrig. The air from the freezer enters the refrig on the top and falls to the bottom where it is drawn back into the freezer. The temperature of the refrig is regulated by a thermostat and a fan that runs when the thermostat calls for cooling. If the refrig thermostat is faulty and causes the fan to run more than it should, there will be a freezing problem in the refrig at the bottom because cold air falls and warm air rises. If the refrig is thermostat is calling for cooling constantly, this will take more cold air from the freezer than is normal. Your freezer temp might be higher than normal and the refrig will be colder then desired. If the fan from the freezer is running constantly I would suspect a bad refrig thermostat.

MODEL ET14JKXFW02 REFRIGERATOR WORK WELL IN THE FREEZER SECTION BUT THE REFRIG WILL NOT COOL BELOW 60 . CHECKED THE DRAIN TUBE FROM BELOW-NO JAM APPARENT. SLIGHT FROST BUILD UP IN THE FREEZER SUGGESTIONS...

The slight build up of frost is the problem . That is only what you see . Behind the panel is another 4 " buildup that you cannot see . On the control box in the refrig section ( on the bottom of it ) , you will see a hole about 1/2 " round . Insert a flat head screwdriver into this hole and turn slowly until you hear a louder "click" than the other slight clicks . Open the freezer door and if you hit the right loud click , the freezer fan will not be running . Use an amp meter and ( a short extension cord with all 3 wires seperated without showing bare wire ) and check the amps . Make sure both doors are closed . If you get 2-3 amps , then the defrost timer is bad ( the part you turned for the clicks ) . If you get 000 amps , then remove the inside freezer panel and replace the defrost heater which looks like it comes with the defrost thermostat . If not , replace it also . # 4 on diagram http://www.apdepot.com/Buy/IPLFrame.asp?Brand=WHIRLPOOL&ModelNo=ET14JKXFW02&IMGFile=AR2LDCWT&IMGID=3sbJ

Defrost not cycling

Hi. the Defrost timer assembly has failed. simply replacing this timer will fix the defrosting issue.

Concerning the refrigerators cold control. this is caused by a malfunctioning Temperature control assembly. simply replacing this device will fix the erratic cold control.

Now, i would inspect the compressor for its operational value before purchasing a temperature control assembly. If the compressor isn't cycling on and off and if it is making a very loud noise or pinging, this will confirm compressor failure. you will have to replace the compressor in this case.

If the compressor is coming on in a cycle and powering off without any abnormal noises, this will confirm temperature control failure. replace the temp control assembly in this case.

I will post the parts need below so that you may order the affected parts on line if you choose.

Temperature control assembly.
Defrost timer module.

Please rate and god bless:)
