You might be able to adjust the volume further from the control panel.

In windows xp click "start" and then select "control panel" Next click sounds, speach, & audio devices next to a speaker icon. Then click the "sounds and audio devices"

you should be able to adjust the volume there as well as a volume control on the front or side of your laptop.

good luck

If you want to remove the hard drive you can do it by following the dissassembly instructions from the following website.

    http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/To...

On step 3 your hard drive is the part of the computer that has a metal shield with all the wholes in it.

All you have to do is remove the screws holding the hard drive in and you can replace it. If you are not sure what kind of replacement drive to get you can take this drive to your local electronic store like best buy and they should be able to help you with getting you the right hard drive.

Once you replace the drive you will need your recovery disk to put all the default software back on from toshiba.

Bios no longer detects the harddrive

Is it set to run disc or hard drive 1st?
if reinstalling windows it needs to boot up from cd drive 1st and this will automatic copy to new garden drive, after that change bios to boot up from hard drive.

I can`t use an external monitor connected by VGA port for my Toshiba Satellite M55 S331. I need to know if the port is damaged?

The M55 series does not output to external VGA automatically. You can either go into Setup (press F2 when computer is starting) or use FN F5 in Windows to toggle between LCD, monitor, or simultaneous output.

The monitor port should be standard, so as long as the plug on your monitor doesn't have any bent pins, it should work.

Toshiba M55-S331 will play DVD's but not CD's..

Sounds like a codec problem, or settings.
www.freecodecs.com
visit the above link for the latest codec packs.
Or try opening my computer, right clicking on the drive and setting autoplay options.
