Question about Microsoft Office Professional 2007 Full Version for PC

MS Word 2007 will only open in SAFE mode

When I try to open word, it give me the warning: "Word failed to start correctly last time. Starting Word in safe mode will help you correct or isolate a startup problem in order to successfully start the program..." Then asks if I want to start in Safe mode.

I can start a new document in Safe mode, but if I try to retrieve an existing document, the cursor just spins. I noticed that this happens with Publisher as well. Excel seems to be fine.

I have uninstalled/reinstalled MS Office, but nothing's changed. I've read about the normaldot.... files, but am not sure if this is related or how to go about resolving my problem. Thank you for your help.

    Windows Vista Ultimate + SP1
    AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4400+ 2.30GHz

    MS Office Professional Plus 2007 + SP1

It seems only Word fails while PowerPoint and Excel works fine.
    Thanks for any suggestion!

Try opening internet explorer --> Tools --> Windows updates
If you cannot see tools in the menu bar at the top tap the <ALT> key once

Once into updates choose custom and apply all updates for Office or Word 2007

If you still get the error try opening word, click Help --> Detect and repair (it may ask you to put in your Office/Word CD)

Ok, next step is to delete the file or at least rename it.

    1. Close all word/office software windows

    2. Open windows Explorer

    3. Search all files including hidden for

    4. right click on any found and rename to old_normal.txt

(the reason for changing the file type is all .dot files are run at startup)

    5. this may give a warning so click yes to rename

    6. Open word and see if the problem is resolved

ok, it must be something else.

I would suggest running spybot search and destroy

In the run box type sfc /scannow

to check all windows files, may require your windows disk

    Also please post:-

    Which Windows?

Make and model of PC plus the chip

Start --> Control Panel --> system

If you want to use premium chat, I know it costs but it may be quicker to solve!!

STOP: 0x0000000024 that is the error message I am receiving and can't seem to get past the screen that gives you the option to start in safe mode

if this happens when starting to boot to Windows, try last known-good config. When system is restarting, tap F8 a couple of times to get to the Advanced Options menu where Safe Mode is also listed. Select Last Known-Good Configuration if available and press Enter. If this does not work, try selecting Safe Mode. If you can get to Safe Mode, you can try System Restore to a previous restore point available when your system is working properly. If none of the things work, try Windows repair or reinstall. Make sure to try to backup data if you can before doing any reinstall or repair.

Try go into BIOS by hitting the DEL key or F1 or F2 as you start and go to save Cmos config. then reboot.
The other approach is Last known Good config is the best. This can be brought up after presing power button then by tapping F8 till screen apears.. Select Last known Good Config

Northgate not booting correctly from HD

If you can't get it to boot from last known config, safe mode, or anything else, you won't get it to boot from CD. Sounds to me as if the HD has failed.

Fail to start up

The error in the self test is probably just a warning that your battery is near the end of its life and is NOT related to your startup problem.

The startup problem is likely a failing hard drive. If there is data on your computer you want to save, STOP testing it and take it to someone that can do hard drive recovery.

you could also buy a USB hard drive enclosure (about $20-$30 at most stores.) if you have another computer to plug the drive into.

Good luck!

Computer shut down ..wont restart

what has happened is your hard drive as failed and that is why it shut down and then gave the unmountable boot volume. You could try repairing windows using your XP cd but it's a new hard drive i recon.
