Question about Creative Labs WebCam Live!

Says camera not plugged in

I have a custom version of xp pro and installed the correct driver, the webcam centre says the camera is not plugged even though it is. I have tried various usb ports but all have the same problem. the camera definatly works as i have installed it the same driver on a different computer and found that the camera works properly
any help would be much appreciated

    hi thanks for the reply :), i tried reinstalling the driver and downloading it from another site but still have the same problem. I recently built my computer and was wondering if it could be related to that in anyway because the camera does work on the two other computer i have it set up on. Now when i plug the camera in even when the driver has been installed it gives ma a found new hardware pop up and when i open creative webcam center it says "the creative camera is not available, it may be in use by another resource@ but nothing i have installed on my computer uses it. I thought the problem might have been because i had a custom version of xp installed so i put a legit copy on and still have the same problem. i reely have no idea what to do :(

Normal 0 Probably has corrupt driver.
Try disconnecting the Camera from the USB port and reinstall the CD software program. When the program asks you to connect the camera to the USB port, do so and it should work.
Then to use it on the Web do this.
Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.
Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.
A. Skype Setup:
After downloading and installing Skype (http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/download/skype/windows/beta/downloading/ ) set it up as follows:

  1. Go to Tools, then Options, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  2. Then click on the Video Settings.
  3. The camera if Installed Properly will come up and show a video picture.
  4. Then, on the bottom of the page click on Save.
The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now be able to see and her to you.
B. Yahoo Setup:
After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger (http://www.soft32.com/download_30.html ) set it up as follows:
  1. Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
  2. Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
  3. Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  4. Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on the left window.
C. Windows Live Messenger:
  1. After you start Windows Live Messenger, expand the view by clicking on the square on top left next to the red X.
  2. Then on the Windows Live messenger window on the right side, click on “ “Show Menus.” And then click on “Show the Menu Bar”.
  3. Next go to the Menu Bar on right side, click on “ “Action.”
  4. Go to “TOOLS” and click “Audio and Video Setting” and follow the instructions.
NOTE: You audio and video should work. Enjoy.
When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.

    Do not plug in the Camera until the software that is being installed asks you to plug in the USB port. That's been the problem with 90% of the cameras not working. They are not meant to be a Plug and Play hardware. Give it another try using the method I outlined above. Hope this helps. Bud

    If you plug in the camera and it says found new hardware you didn't follow the directions or it just didn't load right. try disconnecting the camera from the USB port and when it asks you to plug it in do so.
    Also don't unplug the camera after you have installed it because it could cause a driver to be corrupt.
    I have had good luck in repairing computers with the same problem you have.
    Good luck and don't give up as you will find the answer.

Upgrade to Internet Explorer 8 and then try installing again. You can install the newer version by running windows update (browsing to update.microsoft.com with Internet Explorer). It may be an optional update, so be sure to do a "Custom" update and manually select the Internet Explorer 8 Install.

1st You download Webcam Driver.
my camera installation After this install the Webcam driver in the system.
Installation of Webcam Driver
Go to the control panel
Click on the System Icon
Click on the Hardware Tab
Click on the Device Manager s
Select the Unknown Device or printer device where yellow Question Marks sign on it.
Right click on it and uninstall it.
After this go to the top of the device manager and click on scan for hardware changes.
Driver installation Wizard start.
Brows Your Driver from the Hard Disk and click on next.
Driver will be install.

It is possible your webcam is either disabled or the driver is corrupted. Try reloading the webcam software driver, reboot, and then try the free webcam test tool to check if it is working properly.

Skype 4.1.0.179 restarts pc when using camera, is this version not compatable with windows xp?


HI,

Your camera is 100% compatible with Windows Xp.

Please uninstall your webcam first and then skype.After that reinstall webcam and then the skype.

This should fix the issue.

The Intel CS430 worked on XP, but wont work on Windows 7


The final version of Windows 7 has not been released yet, you most likely have the RC copy of Windows 7 (ie Release Candidate - final beta version just before official release) the RC is available to anyone to download and test.
The problem is that not all device drivers are avaiable and if you cannot get a Windows 7 version from the manufacturer's WEB site at this stage, you have to wait until it is available.

Labtec Webcam Plus installed but keeps telling me it is unplugged.


This is very strange. It sounds like a driver problem, but you said you got the latest drivers from Labtec. I would go to Labtec's support area and copy what you posted her and show it to them to see if they know of any similar issues.
