DVD RW drive won't read my CivIII CD

I insert my CivIII CD into myAD7203A ATA device (which came with my Gateway GT5670 computer purchased in June using Vist home Premium, and the device won't read the CD and tells me to insert the CD and restart the application. It will finally read it after 20-30 re-insertions and about 25-35 minutes later. Can you fix this? Thanx
