Front loader making loud noise with spin cycle

Can someone please help me. My GE washer is making a loud bang while in the spin cycle. I took off the back. The belt is fine. I took off the wheel which the belt goes around, which is attached to the plasic drum which surrounds the steel drum. I thought I could see inside the plastic drum because the noise seems to be coming from inside there but I can not see in. Its like something is loose inside the plastic drum.. does anyone have any suggestions. Its only 3 1/2 years old, It may be the rear ball bearings, is this a lost cause or can I fix it. I had the same banging problem, late in the spin cycle. I called a repairman who said it was in fact the rear bearing assembly, and that it costs more to repair than getting a new machine would.

I have the same problem as urs. i open the whole drum myself and replaced the rear bearing. but the actual problem is the bearing housing is loose in plastic drum. so only drum needs to be replaced.

It may be something that was in the wash and fell thru the holes in the inner drum. Check all the plastic agitators and make sure they are all secure and an attach bolt has not backed out of one and rubbing the outer tub. It will wear a hole in it fast if it is.
Usually when the bearings go bad, it gets very loud on the spin cycle, like a loud roar and sometimes clothes will have rust or grease stains on them.
I just replaced my tub bearings on my Frigidare and spent about $60. They are all pretty much the same. On mine they only list the complete rear outer tub assembly with bearings, but you can knock the old bearings and seal out and match them up at a bearing supply house or you can buy online. Online seems much cheaper. If you buy bearings, make sure you get ones with a -2rs on the end of the part number. ex. 6308-2rs. They are sealed and hold up much better in water environment.
I would give it a try, the junk man doesn't care if it comes in pieces or one big piece.

There are a couple online articles that can probably help you. Do a google search for 'washer rear tub bearings"

BUMMER. I would assume you shut it down during a spin and when it took off it got out of balance. Perhaps druing this it caused some damage.
I would start by unpluggin it for 1/2 hour..... and try it again... If it does then you'll need someone with some technical abilities to look inside at the mechanical parts and then electrical.
Good luck,

Loud banging noise during rinse

Most noises from a washing machine occur during the rinse or spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping during the spin, the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary. This will solve your problem.

Front loader washer is making a loud banging noise when in the spin cycle.

Please check the mountings of the roller drum by opening the rear panel. Since the drum is spinning it is the one of the mounting which has given way OR Check the bearings/bush connecting the motor, at the back to see if it is not damaged or worn out.

GE Profile - Loud knocking on spin cycle

Just random input, I apologize if this is of no help to you. I've only experienced this with my washer when clothes somehow get bunched up on one side of it.  The best I can tell you at the moment is to make sure there is relatively equal distribution of clothes around the "washer bucket thingy" if you hear the bang bang bang again.

My ge front loader is making a banging noise while in spin cycle

When I was researching which washer to buy I read that this one is not the best choice to have on a second floor. Ours is on the main floor and can still be a little loud in the spin cycle. Have you balanced the machine properly? Otherwise, I think I read that people have had success putting a thick, dense rubber mat (like a stall mat for horses) under the washer to minimize the sound/wobbling. Good luck!

Kenmore series 80 washer makes loud knocking noise during spin cy

Unless your front loader is set firmly on concrete and leveled to perfection, the force of a heavy wash load spinning in excess of 1000rpm will create a bit of vibration and noise.A firm footing is your best defense against to much movement.
Also due to the earlier movements during the spin cycle, the shocks that are used to dampen the spin cycle might have been broken or damaged.
If the problem persists inspite of proper levelling, please do check for the shocks or might have them replaced them for good.
