Usually when my computer decides to act up like this (most often it refuses to connect to my school network, even though my other laptops connect perfectly at the same time), I simply go to the device manager and tell it to uninstall then reinstall my drivers. I know this might be tedious, but it usually works for me.

Also, yes, I too wonder why I bring multiple laptops to school, but I suppose I'm a geek like that. Ha ha.

Oh, and just in case you didn't already know, to do what I said,
a. right click my computer
b. go to properties
c. click hardware
d. click device manager
e. go to network adapters
f. right click the one that says something along the lines of "wireless card" or WLAN
g. go to uninstall
h. exit device manager
i. go back to device manager
j. right click the device you just uninstalled (it should have a yellow ! next to it)
k. click reinstall/update drivers
l. Success
m. Rate me with 4 stars. ha ha

Hi Fixya computer Expert... Question: Does the Acer laptop, 2002, Aspire 3610 have a WiFi hardware system? If not, can a WiFi pack be installed? Thank you. Walter

The tech specs on Acer's web site state that the 3610 did ship with wireless.

If your wireless is no longer working try installing the driver.

Also a picture can be found here of the wifi card that should be installed in the laptop. http://cgi.ebay.com/Acer-Aspire-3610-Wireless-WIFI-Card-WM3B2200BG-TESTED-/370304921123?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5637e4ae23

Acer Aspire 3610 does not recognize wireless internet connection is available when it is running on battery alone. Plug in the AC cord and it recognizes wireless is available but then takes forever to...

If you are running windows vista or windows 7 then you need to go to the power setting on the system, in the advanced options and look for wireless power setting. Turn the when on battery setting to leave the wireless card running instead of turning it off.

Go to display settings, screen saver, power options, balanced power or power saver, and look in there for the wireless adapter.

No wireless internet aspire 3610

the wireless drivers are probably not installed. you can get them from here
http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/downloads.html

Ones the wireless drivers are installed along with all the other drivers and utilities you can get from acer, then you can turn on the wireless with the wireless button on your laptop, now you should have wireless connectivity.

How do i turn on the wireless on my laptop the wireless button just keeps flashing

You can try Control panel > Network connections You'll see your wireless there, if you can enable it, it will work The button in the laptop and the settings go hand in hand. So you can use them alternately.

Wireless switch

Although the wireless switch on your Acer does turn on/off your wireless card, you will also need to make sure that your operating system (Windows) has the wireless card enabled.

Do the following:
  1. Go to Control Panel (Start -> Control Panel)
  2. Double-click Network Connections
  3. Right-click on Wireless Network Connection / WLAN (you can tell it is disabled if the icon is greyed)

  4. Click on "Enable" (if you see Disable, your network is already enabled)
You should check the bottom-right-hand area of your screen (in the menu bar) for your wireless icon. If this is not appearing, you'll have to go into Network Connections again and do the following:
  1. Right-click on Wireless Network Connection (your wireless network adapter)
  2. Select Properties
  3. Click the checkbox that says "Show icon in notification area when connected"

  4. Now click on the Wireless Networks tab (at the top of this dialogue box)
  5. Scan for a network and connect to it.
