Question about Digital Cameras

1 Answer

I am getting a message on my computor (vista) when I plug my camera in to download pics. It says that it does not recognise the USB. It worked fine earlier today and now it's an unrecognizanle USB. I already tried a different cord which leads me to believe that it it something with the camera...

We figured out that it is the USB port in my Camera. Since it is no longer under warranty I'm sure they would charge me somewhere between 40% and 60% of the cost of a new camera to fix it. This is usually the formula these companies work off of. This guru recommended just getting a device that you pop the memory card into that goes right into my laptop (USB). Apparently they are relatively inexpensive and can then be used instead of the camera to computer cord.

Can not dowload pics to computor micor soft vista camera purchased new did not come with cd program to download pics

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

Consider NOT using the USB connection.

Not recognising USB

To remove the message, press MENU/SET. You can also eliminate any problems by using a separate card reader to download your pics to a folder you create on your desktop.

Canon Rebel XTi not recognized when plugged into usb

Vista is your problem. Solution...buy an inexpensive card reader to download your pics to a folder you create on your desktop. From there, you can send the pics to your photo editing software.

My computer doesn't recognise my camera.

Hi There, If you are using Windows xp or vista, you probably don't need special drivers, the computer should recognize what you are trying to do. Just in case, check your owners manual for computer/download info. Also check your usb input or try another usb input to make sure they are working. You could also try a friends computer to eliminate trouble with your own. If all else fails, you could purchase a usb multi- card reader to down load your pics, around $20.00.

I used to be able to plug in my camera to the computor and get all my pictures downloaded and now all of a sudden, I CAN"T and I need to find out WHY>??????? Thanks

normally in windows xp allmost all the makes, models, and brands of digital cameras are recognised as mass storage device, and shows it as extended drive, when you connect it to the computer via USB. If earlier it was recognising and have stopped all of a sudden ,there may be
1) defective USB cable.
2) Defective USB port in the camera
3) problem with the operating system of the computer. Try connecting it on some other computer.
