Lady Kenmore Dryer Making Loud Screeching Noise When Drum Turns

Lady Kenmore model stock # 86592120 is 10 years old. Makes loud screeching noise when drum turns when dryer is on and also when I manually turn the drum inside the dryer without it being turned on. What could the problem be? Would it be easy to repair or time to get a new dryer??

The drum spins but when you turn it by hand it doesn't seem to be that easy to rotate. I'm not sure if this is common when the dryer is not on.

How to stop dryer from making loud noises and tumbler from hitting inside walls

A dryer kit contains the wheels that the drum turns on, new glides, to keep the drum in place, and a tension pulley for the belt. You may also need a rear bearing. I'd say about $60 in parts and an hour or two & you'd be good to go.

Dryer is making a very loud screeching noise. We can not get the back off of the dryer to get to the inside. What could cause this noise and how do you disassemble the dryer?

Pretty difficult to help without a MAKE, and MODEL. Most dryers the drum comes out the FRONT and not the back. Unplug the machine before you do anything.

Loud screeching noise at times when in use!

Normally loud screeching noises come from the drum rollers being dry.
They need lubricant, or replacement

Loud screeching noise

The problem is usually caused by dry drum roller.
You need to remove the drum and lube or replace the rollers

Screeching noise and burn smell how do I open dryer to repair

Pull it out from the wall, unplug it and remove the back panel by removing the screws. The problem is most likely the belt around the drum which is either worn out or out of alignment. Take a look at it and decide if you can just straighten it on the drum or if you will need to buy a new belt.

Dryer screeching when on

likely has a slipping belt , it will smoke before too long,
unless something got between the drum and door and is scratching .

Kenmore dryer making excessive noise

Likely the main drum bearing in the back. I have seen these go bad, and loud squeaky noise tells you. You can get a new main bearing and replace. It is in the center of the back of the drum, accessee through back panel of dryer usually.
