Satellite c655 cd drive not working

Open up the loading bay and use a can of compressed air to blow any dirt, next get a Q-Tip and rubbing alcohol, carefully clean the laser lens, allow several minutes to dry, check your cd disc for fingerprints and other marks.

My Sony Vaio VGN-FS690P has stopped playing sound. The sound card states it is working correctly. It does play one sounds, the sound when it starts and show the VAIO screen.

Hopefully this helps. Right click on your volume control icon. Open the "Volume Mixer," and make sure that nothing has the mute X on. Then right click on "Volume Control," and make sure that the volume control is checked to play all sounds, and that your Speaker box is checked. Next step is your music, if the sound was muted directly @ the music playback, this could be the problem. Open your Media Player and try to play music, if you cannot hear it, click on the mute button to the song playing. If your Player was shut off in the "mute" mode, then you will not hear sound. It Happened to me once. You will need to check all of your "Players" to see if any of them were shut off in "mute."

Cant get sound

Click Open Volume Control.

A box with sliders in should appear. make sure that volume control, wave, sw synth, aux, cd player, line in
are all about half way and that none of them have ticks in the box at the bottom.

If any of those are missing click options then properties from the top left and put a tick besides any that were missing (nothing else)
Now close the slider box.

Put a normal music cd in your cd/dvd player on the computer and set it to play with windows media player.
You should now have sound out of the speakers.

Double check that EVERYTHING is ok.
If there is still no sound check the control panle for any hardware issues and rectify those with the correct drivers

Have an acer aspire 5516 and cannot find any sound when playing a dvd

check your sound and audio devices. Or you can see icon tray on the right-bottom. See picture "speaker" on there? Double click it, and please be attention in that check in "Mute All". Don't get that check, if you wanna hear some sound after you are playing some DVD's in PowerDVD software.

Using dvd drive makes makes sounds

There is nothing wrong with your laptop. If you are copying a cd and trying to play music at the same time, you are pushing the processor power of your laptop or low on memory. When copying a cd it should rip it without sound to your hardrive, so i assume that your are playing music from your hardrive as well as ripping and this model of laptop i think comes standard with a 1.3ghz processor with 512mb of memory, which can easily be drained when ripping or burning.
