Thanks for trying. For my portable DVD it didn?t help. After talking with coby (the manufacture) I have came to understand that I simply through $100 to the garbage - we used this portable DVD maybe 10 times since I bought it in February.
    Thanks for your advice anyway...

I have the same problem, however, I have unplugged the system, cleaned the machine and even repositioned the player and I still get the same error. The player is only 4 months old how can I fix this?

every time i put in a disc it said "wrong disc". So i looked on some forums to no avail, but i was tinkering with it when i found out that if when i spun the disc in the opposite direction and then shut the case so that it would load, for whatever reason it works now. So i guess just spin the disc manually in the opposite direction it usually goes then shut the top and you're good to go.
    Hope this was helpful

Had same thing, was the holder that the dvd snaps into....it seems to slip downward on the shaft and making the disc to close to the eye. carfully work the carrier back up and no more error, works great!

I've been having this problem too. I tried turning it off and then on, unplugging it, changing DVDs, and using the factory default. Nothing worked. AND THEN! I took the disc out and unplugged it for ten seconds. Now it is working. So just unplug it for a minute without a DVD in the drive.

Your problem is either the laser Diode has faulted OR perhaps the Lens is "Dirty" it can be cleaned with a special "Cleaning Disk" but I would think unfortunately that the laser assembly has gone faulty, a common problem unfortunately :(

I have a coby vzon that says wrong disc but reads cds then when cleaned and blown loads up mp2 instead of dvd or says wrong disc still please help.

All DVD players use a dual laser pick up. One laser is for CD/VCD/MP3 and the other laser is only for DVD. If you have watched more DVD and less CD's you could be having a problem with the DVD laser. Must have become week and the system cannot read the disk. Change of the lens unit will solve your problem.

Dvd player says loading then wrong disc

If it is disc made with a computer, you may need to convert the format to one that the DVD player is compatible with so it will recognize the disc contents.

Coby DVD shows Invalid Disc HELP PLEASE

Did you make the disk if you made the disk your computer has to give it a digital signature so the DVD player can read it if you're using a regular DVD then I would very carefully using rubbing alcohol and Q tip clean the actual laser I would be very careful doing this if too much rubbing alcohol is on the Q tip it will ruin the laser you can also try resetting the DVD player by taking out the battery and unplugging it from any power source and leave it that way for at least 20 seconds to a minute if that doesn't work you might have something else wrong

My coby portable dvd player keeps saying wrong disc

You may need to clean the laser in the unit. You can purchase a cleaning disk at Radio Shack or Best Buy. They are normally less than $20.

Coby 224 wrong disc

you can reset the settings through the menu, its under the advanced option in the menu. however, its not a regional error, if it was in the wrong region, it would say wrong region and not wrong disk, try putting the region back to 1 or 0 or 9, 1 is USA, 9 and 0 are all regions.

Dvd player will not spin disk

Unfortunately, your DVD player is broken. Portable units like these often get bumped and jostled and the motor that spins the DVD quits (very small and fragile). Sorry, I wish there were a magic button.
