Question about Vtech IA5854 5.8 GHz Cordless Phone
First have you checked the phone line for a dial tone? Is the cable undamaged and plugged into both the phone base and the wall. I keep an old rotary phone and extra RJ11 cables among my diagnostic tools just to track if a phone problem is inside, outside or an individual phone.
I hope this gives you a starting place. I can't help you beyond this. If the problem is the base or the handset, you'll need someone with knowledge of that model or its manual.
(who has lost phone service due to a cut cable down the road (underground service) as well as a problem at the junction near the street.)
