Cause = Pasta sauce.

Normally if you run the dishwasher empty (but with proper soap), this can clear it up. Or try running a short cycle with vinegar (about 2 cups) this can also clear it up sometimes.

SOURCE: discolored inside after wash

well i would suspect rusty water heater, best thing to do is trace back the water line and find out where it's clear and when it turns color.

I cleaned and I was away for two weeks and now my dishwasher starts the cycle, empties and refills. after that 3 lights start flashing and cycle stops. I removed and cleaned water...

Okay Mickey, I've got your answer. The HEAVY and QUICK buttons flashing on that model means "Over-level water error". It means that you have either a bad Sensor Level Assembly and/or a bad Case-Brake Assembly. Both these parts are located along the left-hand side of your dishwasher. They are the semi-translucent plastic parts. Probably you can see some discoloration or gunk inside them. I have never tried to clean them; I just replace them; they are not too expensive. Go to SearsPartsDirect.com or RepairClinic.com to get the new parts. Good luck!

Discolored copper hue inside

A copper discoloration is usually caused from iron in the water. One way to help would be to use a water softener with the green bag of salt. The green bag of salt helps with iron content.

What causes an orange stain in the tub of the dishwasher and around the edge of the door?

Dishwashers are prone to mold and mildew this time of year. Clean all of the orange stains with a solution of one cup of clorox bleach in two quarts of water. Then run the dishwasher on its hottest and longest cycle adding only two cups of vinegar through the door opening. That will clean up the entire insides and remove the clorox smell.

Pump motor cycles LDS5811

If your unit has a serial number that starts with 712 or lower then there may be an issue with the wiring in the door. This sounds like your case if you had a broken wire and discolored wires. The issue has to do with black, tarry residue getting on the wires and causing them to deteriorate from the inside out.

If this is your case, call LG customer service at 800-243-0000 and have them refer to service bulletin IDSW20070060. If your unit is out of warranty they may extend it to cover the repairs (the door liner and wire harness will need replaced).

Permanent (?) stains on inside of door

Have you tried a treatment (not sure of the name) that you wash plastic dishes with that takes the orange stains out? It can be found at Walmart for under $10. I don't know of anything that can prevent this problem but I don't see why a product that takes it out of plastic dishes can't take it off the plastic of the dishwasher. Hope it helps!

Stopped working altogether

Check the door switch, it may have gone bad or maybe isnt connecting with the catch, making it look dead. They wont do anything when the door is open, as you know. Also remove the lower panels to get to the inside of the dishwasher. Check for power where the cord is plugged into the machine. If you have power, unplug it and look at the terminals to the heaater element. They are on the right side, facing down out of the dishwasher tub. Just look inside the dishwasher to see where the heater goes through, then look in the same place underneath, Check the condition of these connections. The timer gets power through the heater element (strange but true) so if the heater is bad or these connections have heated and melted, it will cause a dead dishwasher. if tis just the connectio, pu t a new terminal on it and you should be good to go. Hope this helps
