When ever i move my curser on the screen the the scroll button comes on how can i get rid of it

Troubleshooting a mouse that scrolls up and down uncontrollably depends on various factors. Possibilities extend from the class of surface to hardware problems or configurations.

Identification

A variety of laptop mice exist.

A mechanical mouse uses a hard rubber ball that rolls with any movement of the mouse.

An optical mouse uses an LED sensor to detect movement.

An infrared, cordless mouse requires and relays a signal to the mouse port found on the laptop.

The base of the trackball mouse remains stationary, while the trackball sitting on top of this mouse reflects all movement.

Function

A mouse depicts a device that controls the movement of the cursor or pointer on a monitor or display.

Product

Several reasons exist for a cursor to uncontrollably scroll up and down on a display.

Static electricity often initiates wild cursor reactions.

To solve this, use pre-moistened computer cleaning wipes to help control static electricity and clean electronic surfaces.

Bad batteries can trigger impromptu cursor movements in a wireless mouse.

Electrical interferences can also produce the scrolling effect. Radio, wireless or electrical objects may require removal from close proximity.

The mouse needs to stay in range of the receiver, meaning near the Laptop

I have found that the best way to adjust your mouse settings is to create a control panel in your bottom toolbar scroll to the bottom of your screen right click you will see an array of options select the toolbar option then select desktop

then you will see the desktop in the bottom toolbar select the 2 >>arrow heads then all control panel items then select mouse this is in WINDOWS 7

in XP you will have to select the new toolbar option once you have that a browse option select my computer then control panel then a control panel option will be in the bottom toolbar

click start right click on my computer select properties device manager control scroll to mice and pointing devices you might see a yellow question mark? right update driver

click on >> control panel all control panel items mouse you should see 4 tabs buttons pointers pointer options and hardware under hardware you have options to troubleshoot also you can select properties under driver you will have the options update driver rollback driver or uninstall in xp

in windows 7 click start control panel hardware and sound mouse you will see the same tabs and options as with xp

hope this helps

After using for sometime, scroll pad not working well. Cursor stops at any place, vibrating without touching the pad and become impossible to move the cursor in all directions. Then PC has to be shut down...

First Try doing the same in the safemode

Start the Computer with Press F8 key (keep on hitting it before window screen appear)

It will show you the windows advance option

Select the safemode with networking and enter

Login to the user account

Check the Scroll pad if its working fine then there is some problems with software - need update

My HP Pavilion Dv6 1030us the touchpad won't work.. It moves okay but It doesn't click! The buttons work fine, the only problem is with the touchpad and is driving me crazy! =/

Try going to the control panel > mouse settings, Open the mouse settings and at the top of the page, there should be a tab for device settings. Click on this tab, It should bring up the touchpad device, highlight it and click on the settings button. When the settings window shows, scroll down to tapping, highlight tapping and make sure that the box is checked for tapping enabled. While you are in there go through all the other settings.

Cursor Will Not Stay Put

Try uninstalling the drivers from the device manager, then do a hardware search. It will automatically find the touch pad and reinstall the drivers. If this doesn't work, then check the connector under the keyboard. Disconnect it and reconnect it, they sometimes work loose. If these don't correct the problem, then you have a faulty touch pad and you'll have to replace it.
