Bios password removel of Dell Optiplex GX280

If you don't know the BIOS password, and need to access it - you'll have to unplug the AC power then open the case and remove the lithium "coin" or "button" battery from the motherboard. Wait 5 - 10 minutes (allows the capacitors to discharge) and replace the battery. This will RESET all BIOS values to default.

Restore AC power reboot. Enter the BIOS and change the values as desired. To access the BIOS, Press the F2 function key repeatedly during boot sequence. You may need to plug the USB keyboard into a different USB port if it doesn't let you in to the BIOS page.

I hope this helps & good luck! Please rate my reply - thank you.

I have the dell 9200 desktop and when I start it, it stays on the windowsxp loading screen. What should I do?

Shutdown the computer by holding in the power switch until it shuts down. Then reapply power and hit F8 until it displays - select start-up using last known good configuration.

Reboot your computer and as soon as it begins to boot up, hold down the cntrl key and hit the f11 key once then let go of them both at the same time. This can be tricky to get just right but try it a few times and it will the restore process.

How can i restore my dell dimension to factory setting

to restore the settings you have to follow the steps

Instructions
    Windows XP
  1. Step 1 Disconnect all peripheral equipment that is attached to your computer such as printer, scanner, external hard drive and memory sticks.
  2. Step 2 Restart the computer. After the Dell screen appears on the monitor, hold down the "Ctrl" key and press the "F11" key. If the Windows XPmag-glass_10x10.gif screen appears before you can finish this step, wait for the computer to finish rebooting and restart the computer again.
  3. Step 3 Highlight "Restore" in the Dell PC Restore window by using the tab button. Hit "Enter."
  4. Step 4 Highlight "Confirm" in the restore warning box by using the tab button. Hit "Enter." This will start the system restore process. Do not attempt to turn off the computer during this process or vital system files may be damages and you will not be able to restart your computer.
  5. Step 5 Click "Finish" in the box that notifies you that the restoration has been successful.
  6. Step 6 Hit "Enter" to restart the computer. The computer has been restored to the original factory settings.
  7. Windows Vista
  8. Step 1 Disconnect all peripheral equipment that is attached to your computer such as printer, scanner, external hard drive and memory sticks.
  9. Step 2 Restart the computer. After the Dell screen appears on the monitor, press the "F8" key. If the Windows Vistamag-glass_10x10.gif screen appears before you can finish this step, wait for the computer to finish rebooting and restart the computer again.
  10. Step 3 Highlight "Repair Your Computer" by using the down arrow key in the Advanced Boot window. Hit the "Enter" key.
  11. Step 4 Click "Next" after selecting a language. Log into the computer as an administrator. Click "OK." Choose "Dell Factory Restore." Click "Next."
  12. Step 5 Check "Yes" next to the reformat the hard drive and restore factory settings option. Click "Next" to start the restoration process. Do not attempt to turn off the computer during this process or vital system files may be damages and you will not be able to restart your computer.
  13. Step 6 Click "Finish" in the box that notifies you that the restoration has been successful. The computer will automatically restart itself to its original factory settings.

Cannot even get to windows. Get a message: Ultra100TX2 Bios is not installed because there are not drives attached

you have a raid controller connected to your computer mother board hit the ESC key to keep booting if this does not do it thin go to bios and disable the raid devise That may cause a CD ROM drive not to work but you can fix that issue once you get to the drive, if you open the box and you see a raid card with two slots on it with nothing connected to it then simply remove the card and reboot it will update and should not hang anymore. Thanks for using fix-ya and if you any more questions just post a reply to the e-mail you receive.

Dell optiplex desktop Beeps 6 times. It started beeping all of a sudden, rebooted and that's all it will do. You can hear the HDD spinning at very high speed. No monitor and no response to anything. Anyone...

THe beeps are a Hardware failure warning. It can be quite a few different things such as motherboard, memory or keyboard. Your easiest solution would be to take your computer to a repair shop that offers diagnostics to test your hardware.

I need to reboot like factory setting from a computer a friend gave me. The problem is that we dont have the disc to reboot a 2350 dell. Can i do it without a disc>

Well, if the computer is not too old, and hasn't been messed with too much, Try this. When you turn on the computer, as soon as the dell logo goes away, you should see a blue bar across the top that says dell.com. Hold down the RIGHT control key and hit F11 a few times. If all goes well, voila, Dell System Restore. This is the best way to do it, since it will reinstall all of the drivers and everything for you. HOWEVER this will erase EVERYTHING on your drive before reinstalling, so you will lose all of your data.

It sounds like your Windows repair procedure did not work properly. This link from Microsoft explains in detail: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;156669
The easiest solution would be to perform a fresh Windows installation.
