1/2 hp liftmaster closer stalls while closing in cold weather

Both my dad and my cousin have liftmaster closers and are experiencing the same problem. The door operates fine in
warmer temperatures but when it gets cold, like yesterday
about -10. The door will only close if the wall controls are
used and you hold the close button till the door is down??
Have had the installer back but have not gotten it resolved.

Garage door works with the remote, but not the door closer in the garage

Replace button on wall. Check wiring between button and opener.
Look at product manual and see if manual has troubleshoot section.
If there is no wire between wall button and opener, the remote may be one of those 'self learning' unit and may have to be reprogrammed. And -or battery replaced.
Otherwise the wall button connects directly to circuit board on opener, and cannot be repaired without ... parts, schematic, electronic knowledge.
Replace garage door opener.

Garage wont close with remote but will open

I have found that not closing is because the door sensors are either blocked from viewing each other, or one of them is turned so it does not "see" the other, If they look like they are aimed right, check that the wiring for them goes to the door closer without breaks. Probably you can try hot-wiring the connectors at the door closer to see if it solves the problem, and then figure out where the disconnect is.

Liftmaster would not operate. just a clicking sound when switch is pressed

Your open close knob probably needs to be adjusted. If the door is closed, you need to take the closer in one hand, and turn the open close knob toward open until it opens. The chain must have jumped over the sprocket. Doo the opposite if the door is staying open.

Garage door: on calm day panels are weather tight

Garage door work like a wedge. As it goes down the door get closer to the jam. So if you moove the weather stips closer to the door that probebly solve your problem. Do that whith the door complitely close.

My keypad does not operate the door in cold weather. It works fine once it gets closer to freezing point????

Some electronic components become sensitive to thermal changes and there is no fix other than replacement.

Sensor lights are steady grn - have to hold closer to close

My service shop says that the sensors can go bad and still have the lights on steady. Also sun lite on the receiver sensor (green led) can cause a problem or if they have gotten wet.

Play with the alignment and if still a problem new sensors are about $40 a pair. Or if you have another door that works OK, swap the sensors to see if that is the problem.
