Question about Lexmark JetPrinter Z25 InkJet Color Printer

1 Answer

Printer problems when I turn on the printer the cartridges shoot violently from on side of the printer to the other side.On turning the machine off the cartridges again flies violently to the side and stops with a thud. The same symptoms are experienced on attempting to print. A vocal message from the computer tells me there is a problem with the printer, and the 2 green lights on the top of the machine flash on and off. Also when lifting the front cover the cartridges slide from right to left at high speed, past the point where it should stop to allow for an ink cartridge change. I have reinstalled the driver cd supplied with to printer and the fault still remains. thanks to anyone who may be able to help, Tony H

Two areas to check: (1) There's a encoder strip (sliver colored metal in the lexmark) the sits right behind the carriage assembly (where the cartridges are installed). It is slotted with "timing marks". This lets the machine know where the carriage assembly is at when parked in home position or starting to print a job. You can carefully clean this with water and a paper towel or cotton swab. I would recommend using some canned air to clean it after that since some of the paper fibers for the towel could be left behind. (2) The carriage rod that the carriage assembly (see above) rides on gets dirty and dry. Clean it with some water and paper towel then use a drop of light weight oil (3 in 1 or sewing machine oil) on it one either side of the carriage assembly. If these don't work, probably time for a new machine.

When I turn on my printer it makes a clicking noise, the paper rolls spin but won't take paper, the ink cartridges slide violently back and forth. Is it fixable or should I just get a new printer?

Have you already tried these steps?

The "violently back and forth" of the carriage sounds like it could have additional problems, but I'd try all these steps up to servicing the printer.

Lexmark z617 printer not working, printer cartridges shooting from side to side when poweed on or lid opened & closed

When you say "printer cartridges shooting from side to side when poweed on or lid opened & closed", do you mean that it's banging from side to side? Turn off the printer. Remove the cartridges from the printer. While the cover of the printer is open, check inside for anything out of the ordinary like any tapes or strips that are loose. If none, turn off/on printer and reload the cartridges. If the banging noise is still present, I suggest you contact Lexmark Technical Support to further investigate the problem. It might be a mechanical problem in the printer.

How to solve error 1200

Try these steps :
Take methylated spirits on the cloth , turn machine off, and open the cover as you would do it when replacing cartridge.

make sure machine is turned off so cartridge will not move to center.

clean the chrome metal bar inside machine with the methylated spirits - move the cartridge to the other side of printer manually. and clean the same bar that the cartridge was sitting on.

this should fix the problem.

New printer time. Yours is at least 5 years old and inkjets are built to only last 3-4 years. New printers go for about $100. It will cost you at least that much if you can find someone to just llok at your broken one.

HP DeskJet 812C Hardware Problem! with Printer cartridge carriage. Printer Cartridge retracted into right side of case will not come out. There is No paper jam in machine to prevent it from doing so. ...

Disconnect the "data" cable (parallel or USB).
Disconnect the "power" cable.
Reconnect the "power" cable.
Turn the printer on.
Lift the printer's lid -- the print-carriage should slide the printer-heads to the "middle" position.

If all else fails, take the printer to a qualified technician, for more trouble-shooting.

Problem with faded printing along right side of page - both black and color.

Turn the printer off.
Remove the ink-cartridge(s).
Gently "slosh" it from side to side -- do not "vigorously-shake" it.
This will move some of the toner towards the "right" side.

If this does not help, it's time to take the printer to a qualified technician, for proper trouble-shooting.
