Hello, Firstly try holding the power and home buttons until the apple logo comes up. Wait for your iphone to start then try again.
If this doesn't work your iphone may be bricked.
If it wasn't you that caused the problem and your warranty hasn't expired you may be able to take your iphone into an apple store or where you bought your iphone and get an exchange.
You should be able to restore your new iphone then
First option is to put a legit sim card. - this will be a problem if you bought your iPhone from another country.
2nd option is to jailbreak and unlock your phone. - if you've upgraded your iPhone to version 3.1.3, there's a great chance that you won't be able to do this option.
3rd option is to use a turbo sim which you can find on eBay. check out some items i've searched for you. - this option will work only if you have 2.30 or lower iPhone software version.
other than those 3, i don't know anything more.

Hello can you tell me if your iPhone is a 2G or 3G and are you plugging it into a USB 2.0 port? if it's a 1.0 usb port that could be your problem. the 3G doesn;t like anything but 2.0 usb and won't work. the 2G is a little more forgiving. also, is your phone pwn'd / unlocked you may need to restore your iPhone and reunlock it. I can help with that also. if you wanna hook up on msn or yahoo let me know i will walk ya through it
Download the latest iTunes to your computer and reset the iPhone. Then re-sync it.
To reset iPhone, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds. During this time, a red "power off" slider may appear and the screen may go black, but do not release Sleep/Wake and Home buttons until the Apple logo appears
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it. Thanks, Joe

hey guys... the only thing you can do now is to restore your iphone/ipodtouch... how to restore: connect your itouch/iphone with usb to your computer and open itunes... probably itunes will not find your itouch/iphone cause its not booted correctly... so hold down the sleep button and home button for more then 15 sec. first it appears a black screen and after actually you have to hold down both buttons till this logo with the usb and itunes appears and then itunes said its a problem with your itouch/iphone and you have to restore... thats all - itunes restores your itouch/iphone and finish :D
