Display driver r300
when i use my media player 11, i will watch a video and the screen will stop but the sound keeps on, then at the bottom there is an error message......display driver r300 has stopped responding and has recovered, how do i fix this

- After the screen goes black the first time the screen says Display driver stopped responding and has recovered. Then the screen will go on and off about 6 times then the screen goes black and says 2.Autodetect analog input. Then the screen says 3. Digital input entering powersaveThe only way to get the screen to come back on is to restart the computer. This is on a brand new Dell XPS 420 I talked to Dell support and we reloaded Vista. Solution #2 (April 15th 2008) fixed it for me. Very easy to do and my Fujitsu Amilo whatever plays everything fine on full screen again. Thank you for your help.

I have the same problem with a Toshiba Satellite Series laptop. Updating the ATI drivers doesn't help either, in fact it became worse. The main problem I have is when I try to use the external monitor port. A second monitor. Disabling the External Event Utility did not help. And numerous events have been posted to the MS bugs site. Every event I receive is sent to them. Oh yes - the OS is Vista.

I was have a problem with R300 on p4v8x motherboard with via chipset, and i solve the problem changing video card because chipset isn't accept the new video card.

solution #2 fixed it for me! Thanks. I have a Dell 1501/Vista. I continually got the display driver r300 stopped responding error whenever I went on You Tube and expand the screen.

2 year old HP DV8000, 2 gb ram, Vista Ultimate. R300 problem.
Last night I thought of something. This only occurs on full screen Youtube videos for me. At first I thought it was a Vista update that caused it and it may very well be since Internet Explorer is tied to the operating system. Regardless, I went back to Youtube, except this time, using my Firefox browser instead, which is a stand alone browser. Guess what...NO PROBLEM. So it's somehow tied to IE and the operating system. Not being a computer geek, I don't know what's going on but that resolved it for me. Then I saw this post and tried Solution #2 using Internet Explorer and it worked.

I've had my Dell Inspiron 1501 with Windows Vista for about 1 year. I'm having the same problem with the R300 driver failing and then recovering. The screen goes black (except for the cursor). I can right-click and get a menu, depending on what's running at the time, but I can't get back to what I was viewing without re-starting. Hitting 'escape' worked once, but not all the time....haven't pinned down much of a pattern other than it seems to happen when I'm online.

Every time I put a video that I'm watching in any kind of player in full screen, it will play fine for a few seconds but then all the sudden it will freeze the video, but the audio will still be going. Then the screen will go black and I would have to press Esc to exit and a message will appear on the bottom about the display driver R300. But the video is fine when it regular size, this only happens on full screen.

I also get the same error message when I try to watch videos on my computer ... the sound continues but the screen is blank. I tried reinstalling the ATI video driver and even had my CD-DVD drive replaced. Please help me how to fix it.

ive tried everything,even downloading new drivers wich was a ***** considering they charge you for drivers for a card you already paid for then hp themselves tried charging me for advice, couldnt believe that ****, 250 dollar vid card lasted 6 months, ATI, HP, nobody will do **** about it so i got a lawyer and am in the process of sueing not only hp but ati as well, if you figure anything out i sure would like to know,,thank you

I fixed my issue about 2 months ago. I had the same exact issue and I updated my video driver and its FIXED. Google the issue and you will find exactly how to fix it. I even brought mine to a Professional and they claimed they fixed it but they didnt. When I got home I googled my issue and resolved it myself. GOOD LUCK

I have exactly the same problem as 'throne'. Bought my laptop in August 07 but ave only just started to use it to watch YouTube. In small screen they play without a problem but freeze after 30 seconds in large screen. Sound continues and when I press Esc I get th small screen back with the video playing. I will try the suggested fix and then use my warranty if that fails. (by the way, mine is a Fujitsu Amilo laptop)

I have the same exact issue and since my laptop is still under warranty I brought it to a place for repair 2x already and it is still going on. they told me that the bios was updated but it still happened. What i have noticed is if i am only watching a video then it doesn't happen BUT as soon as i do other things on the computer it happens. I was thinking of adding more ram to see if that helps. Has anyone noticed this when they get the error? email me peanut561@comcast.net if you have any thoughts.

When i watch something on youtube in large screen, it stops and i see just a black screen with sound of the record i watch. Then in a small box this warning appears "Display driver (R300) stopped responding and successfully recoverd" after this it continues to play the record in small screen

I have this R300 problem watching any video in any player in full screen mode. I have the latest drivers and the latest flash player and its been going on for about a month, so therefore dont have a distinct point it started to do a system restore too. I assume this is happening to alot of people so there must be a solution somewhere.......

i'm using toshiba satellite a135-s2276 with an operating system of
windows vista basic, but i work's very slow and it sucks. the required
memory for vista is 1GB but i only have 512mb i think that is the
reason why it works so slow. so i downgraded it to windows xp. i find
it good at it works faster but when i opened the windows media player
there came a message of error..i couldn't state the exact message but
it say's there that i don't have a driver for me to be able to listen
for music and even watch movies...so then i've looked for driver and
found many,, i tried all of then but none of it worked..this is my
problem..
