Possibly because it is out of batteries or your calc has frozen.

On my casio fx-83GT PLUS calculator whenever i use the inverse cos, sine and tan function math ERROR comes up how do i fix this

The inverse cosine function is defined for arguments from -1 to +1. 6 is outside of this domain, thus the error. Do you get an error if you try the inverse cosine of 0.6, for example?

If you're getting the same error for the inverse tangent, could you post an example?

My machine suddenly stopped adding. All the buttons work except the calculating ones. I hit 2 + 2 and it doesn't read the +, I get 22.

Turn the calculator upside down and drop it from a height of just a few inches. That may help to dislodge the dirt. Most likely the Plus sign it is just worn out and you need a new calculator.

I'm unable to send to, or receive from, my PC files.

Kermit is a protocol designed to allow two computers to communicate with each other.

The HP 50g is not compatible with Microsoft Word. You can write programs on the 50g, transfer them to the computer, and transfer them back, but you cannot edit them in Word.

There are other PC program that will let you write and edit 50g programs. There are also many communication programs. Take a look here.

You may want to consider getting an SD card (and if necessary, a card reader for your computer). It's a lot easier and faster to transfer data and programs using the SD card than the wired connection.

" I've tried whatever anyone had to offer on a lot of websites but I still can't get it to turn on."

By saying the thing in quotation marks above, you undermine my confidence in my abilities to help you. But since you seem desperate, I try.
  1. Are the batteries still good? You say it worked for a while but you do not say how long a while that means. Batteries get depleted especially if you play 3rd-party games.
  2. Did you adjust the contrast? If you do not know or forgot how to do it here is the procedure:
  • Press the [2nd] key and RELEASE IT.
  • Press and HOLD the [UpArrow] key to darken the screen.
  • Release the UpArrow when display is adequate.
If you have the USB Silver Cable use it to connect the calculator to a computer (PC). Run the TIConnect software (downloadable from and click the button DeviceExplorer
If TIConnect is able to detect it that means the calculator is in working order.

Push the button that says "2nd", then push the number "0". This will reset the calculator. After resetting, it should work again.

Unable to Communicate with Calculator Error?

well i have the same problem, but see, if that happens, wats wrong is that your calculators usb drive on top of it is busted or the cable is busted, or its an application on your computer that messing up the communication. Allright, try connecting with a buddy. bring 2 calculators and 2 cables. try the two calculators together, if it works, your software is messing up the communication. If it doesn't work, try ussing the other cable, to connect both the calculators, if that works, its your cable, if not, buy a new calc. Srry!

TI- 83 Plus Silver Edition problem

Many TI calculators have an annoying habit of dimming the screen when the batteries are changed so that it appears as if the calculator isn't turning on at all. Turn the calculator on (or at least press the ON key). Press and release the 2ND key. Press and hold the Up-arrow key for a few seconds and see whether the screen becomes legible.

Error message

I fixed this exact problem on my TI-5006 II calculator by simply replacing a "dead" battery. Three of the four battery's were good (after cleaning their terminals) but the fourth was completely bad (i.e. read "Replace" on my Battery Tester). Other problems probably can cause this exact same error message but this cure was simple and cheap. The problem first appeared after the calculator was dropped. A sudden shock (dropping it) can cause even a good battery to fail.
