Question about Singer 3116 Simple

Need help!!!!!!1 My singer simple 3116 is driving me crazy! The top stich looks great but when you turn the material over its all bunched up and waded up. The thread even gets bunched up in the "bobbin" area. so then I have to take the hook and bobbin and all that out so I can remove the bunched up thread from there. I've tried moving the tension and thread count all around and nothing seems to be working. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thank you so much!

I had this same problem with my singer 3116. What I did was change my needle, got a little brush to clean out the lint for where the bobbin is and the oiled my machine. It seemed to help me.

It sounds to me like the upper thread is not threading properly. Make sure the presser foot is in the up position when threading. After you thread it, try putting the presser foot in the down position and pulling on the thread going through the needle. YOu should have some resistance. If not, you definitely have a threading problem. Check to make sure there isn't any thread broken off in the thread path or wound up in the tension disc.

Hi, I have a singer simple the top thread is fine but the lower thread bunches and now the needle broke and I can't more the wheel

A piece of that needle is probably caught in the shuttle area and your top threading was not right. Take out your bobbin and clean that area real good, then rethread. Always turn the wheel towards you. If, that doesn't help call Singer at 1-800-4singer customer service

Why does the thread keep bunching up under the material when I am sewing?

Your top threading is not right, double check your manual and make sure your bobbin thread is coming out the right way

Noisy when sowing stiching not at the right lenth

It may just need cleaning - check the maintenance section of the manual for how to do this.

If you need a manual, check at the Singer Company website.

Thread bunching under work

Clean away all the thread.

If you look through the Singers at you may find your machine and order a manual so you can be sure the bobbin has been threaded and is inserted correctly into the machine.

It is possible the timing has to be adjusted - you can find this at

Singer simple- thread is bunching at the bottom of my material. I have tried different tension settings.

"Birdnesting" occurs when there is no tension on the needle thread to pull the bobbin thread. This is easily corrected by rethreading the machine, following the threading path carefully and making sure the thread is fully engaged in the tension mechanism.

If you bought this machine at WalMart, I recommend you return and the go to JoAnn Fabrics. Walmart can buy millions of these machines and pay next to nothing for them. I don't even suggest a beginner buy this machine.
