Try hook up an external monitor (from a desktop pc) to the laptop.
This is just to determine whether the laptop screen is the problem or not.
Then try also,,tapping the F2 key repeatedly as the Laptop is starting up,,will it now enter the Bios on the Screen.
Report back here when you have checked these things.

Fan just work for seconds

Replace the fan or your computer will run hot and keep turning off.

Or are you saying this is what happens when you power on the computer? if so: When you press the power button do you hear fansrunning, hard drive spinning, lights on the computer, hear any beeps or lightsconstantly blinking, hear the DvD/CD drive click and the light on the drawer ofthe DvD/CD turn on for a second or two? If so the laptop is trying toboot or may have booted, but the screen is not showing for some reason.

Beep tones and blinking lights tells the technicians what is going on with thelaptop and why it is not booting. Most times it's a motherboard issuewhen you hear beeps or blinking lights continuous.

Wont boot

In that case, looks like you have a faulty motherboard (video chip) chip-set. Remove motherboard from the casing and apply thermal paste. Also clean-up the whole board. I hope this will help you.

Had trouble booting the computer over time. Sometimes power light would come on and nothing else. By unplugging, waiting 15sec it would power up. Over time this stopped working. Eventually power light...

Time to look for a new computer. That and take out your hard drive to copy your files over.

Sounds like motherboard problem. Probably not worth repair.

I've got an HP desktop with similar problems. It turned on one day just fine. The next day not. I don't even get the boot up screens. Disconnecting Hard Drive and CD/DVD components do not help. I should at least get some BIOS POST beeps and a Hard Drive Not Found or such. I do not. On occassion it will boot to a blank screen with white cursor in upper left. Most the time no screen at all. On rare occassion it comes right on and boots Windows. I guess it could be the power switch ... but I doubt that.

Power on emachine T6420 and moniter is blank. The moniter soon loses contact with the computer. The fan run and power is OK there is no beep code.

If you mean after the computer performs the self test the screen goes blank and stays blank, eventually turning off you are having a hard drive problem. When the computer boots you should see an E-Machines logo and/or a self test on the screen. That is done by the motherboard as part of every boot up. After that the motherboard passes control to your boot device and loads your operating system. If your computer stops booting at that point, your boot device is not working properly. That could be caused by many things - virus, hardware failure, power outage. If you really mean you see nothing at all on the screen when you press the power button your computer simply is not working at all. Open the case, blow all the dust out of it and reseat all components you can, then try again.

Asus k8v-mx will not boot up

Try removing the memory cards and leave them blank. Turn on the power. If you notice beeps, the memory cards may be at fault. If not, there is a problem with your motherboard

The first thing you should do is swap the power supply for a known good one,
If this is a new build that hasn't worked from the start follow the instructions here:
