Remove all ram from their slots, clean contacts on ram and slots, try switching ram around,  if the same ram still shows bad, then remove the bad mem and see if that gets rid of blue screen, If it does then replace bad ram.
please rate this answer. good luck

MERCURY BOARD IS INTEL MOTHERBOARD, SP2 MAY NOT BE COMPATIBLE TO YOUR SYSTEM CONFIGURATION AND TRY TO INSTALL THE SP2 OFF THE INTERNET MY NOT BE THE RIGHTSP2, DEPENDING ON THE MANUFACTURE, LIKE HP, JUST DOWNLOADING ANY SP2 WILL CORRUPT THE WINDOWS SYSTEM AND YOU WILL HAVE TO REINSTALL OR TOTALLY RESTORE DRIVE TO CURRENT OR ORIGINAL SETTINGS AND BYE BYE TO ALL YOU HAD BECAUSE IT IS UNRECOVERABLE IF YOU DO THEN YOU CORRUPT THAT PROGRAM YOU JUST INSTALLED AND IT STARTS ALL OVER AGAIN, DO BELIEVE EVERY THING IS THE SAME EACH MANICTURE HAS THERE OWN SP2
UPDATE AND IF YOU DO NOT SEE THEM SOON THAN CONTACT THE VENDER AND ASK HOW TO FIND A SITE THAT HAS THE CURRENT INFORMATION YOU NEED.

*********THIS IS BY DOING IT 2-3 TIME MYSELF*

SO EVERYONE BEWARE THERE IS A SP3 OUT AND IT IS FOR 64BIT SYSTEMS IT MAY WORK ON 32BIT BUT IT IS IN MY CURRENT PC MAGIZINE CARTICALE

Upgrade of WinXP home to SP2 failed on 3 attempts. System just reboots and reboots. Got message from Microsoft that my bios does not match the CPU. MB is P4VXASD. BIOS is AMI 07.00T ver 2.3 4/2/2001

Hi, you give us the M/B and Bios but don't say what the CPU is? What is the complete message you got from WinXP? SP2 often gives that message when you have changed your CPU, or Flashed your BIOS sometimes other hardware changes. SP2 recognises that something has changed since your first install of XP, and that message is usually not an error exactly, but part of a bigger message. That is usually just the part where SP2 says "by the way, as I was fiddling about I noticed that the BIOS and CPU are different to what I expected" Failures after applying a service pack are rarely anything to do ith BIOS or CPU especially if the system was working OK before applying the patch. Have you Flashed your BIOS very recently? like just before apply SP2? Most likely is that a file is corrupt, often NTKRNL, Please give more detail on how you applied the Spack, and all error messages thanks SB

Burnt DDR DIMM socket

It may be possible, but the system may very well become unstable at times. The purpose of the different color dimms is either daul band memory and or hypertheading, which means the memory needs to be matched and in pairs to work correctly. I would try one pair in the same colored slots in which one of them is not burnt. Also can you get it to boot with one stick of ram in a slot? Have you seen this board boot at all with 1 burnt slot (Known Good Board). Hope this was informative to you. Good Luck, Let me know how it works out.
