Samsung RS2534WW freezer not working properly

I have replaced the main control board in my side-by-side and this seems to have solved the refrigerator-side problem(occasional freezing of the water line). But now the temperature read-out on the freezer side is all over the map. It went from 4degrees to 26degrees in about 15 minutes, but the thermometer the I had placed inside didn't change--it read 10degrees. The read-out on the panel and the thermometer inside never seem to be even close. The actual temp will sometimes get up to 32degrees or even a little more but the read-out always says that it is at least freezing. Before the new control board it would freeze up in the back but that seems to have been corrected. It has always been set on -4degrees. It seldom makes ice because (I think) of the wild swings in temperature. I have tried resetting it several times by holding in the top 2 buttons but when it comes back on--no change. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Mike

tborn6 was very helpful over the phone. He took me through several reset steps for my refrigerator and then emailed me a lot of very useful information about the workings of my frig.

He is a real asset to FixYa.com

tborn6: ihave the same temperature fluctuation problem with my Samsung but it is on the fridge side. My repair co. says I need new thermisters for both sides but I have been waiting for the parts for six weeks. I think they hope I'll just go away or something. Myl question is how do i reset the temp on the frige side? What buttons do i hold down and for how long? Any way i can replace the thermisters myself?

    thanx, raventor@verizon.net

We had to reset the temperature, and what we did was hold the power freeze and the power cool button in for about 12 seconds. It flashed and reset it. My refrigerator still isn't working right but it seemed to reset the temp. I'm not positive this will work for you or not, but may be worth a try.

SAMSUNG RS2534WW CONDENSOR FAN NOT WORKING

Was the motherboard replaced because the temp was too high? May be the condenser fan was at fault all the time. Check you have power at the fan. If you have, replace the fan. If you have not, take a live from the compressor to the fan. This will bypass any hp or fan speed control switch and run the condenser fan with the compressor.

Freezer side of my RS2534WW Samsung is not working, fridge side is fine, evap coil fan is running,,, what could be wrong , it's only 7 years old

Your indications does not make sense! Your unit has ONE compressor that uses ONE evaporator coil to cool both sides. So if the FREEZER side is not cooling the fridge side should not cool either! Are you sure you don't have the freezer and refrigerator sides reversed?

Model rs2534ww side-by-side Samsung frig. After power interuption to the home, interior lights work, but digital display is blank and compressor won't run. How do I fix this?

Regarding Samsung refrigerator model rs2534ww/xaa repair: Basic trouble-shooting from Fixya was helpful, but solution required service call from repairman. (Very few repairmen work on Samsung at this time.) We thought problem was the digital controller, but turned-out was ice maker (!). Repairman explained Samsung has wierd control design that is based upon ice maker sensor. Sensor alone cannot be replaced, required entire icer, which he had in the truck. Icer cost $105 retail ($86 online), but controller would have been $161 retail (couldn't find controller online). Hint: if control panel is "dead" except for (only) the upper (horizontal) LED segment of the right-most refrigerator temperature digit, the problem might be your ice-maker. If you find the ice maker online and can install it yourself, you can save at least $130.

Maytag wide by side MZD2667HEW freezer works fridge does'nt

Was it the damper control you replaced and it's still not adjusting the vent(damper)? And is the cold air from the freezer being blown through the vent by the fan in the freezer.
The circuit board mainly controls the defrost timing and the fans. I don't know that it would solve your problem.

Freezer side is fine. Fridge side says it is at

Samsung Refrigerators came with many different features. I need to be sure yours is the model RS2630SH If so I believe that defrost comes from the main control board on yours. You need to unplug and examine the freezer compartment behind the panel covering the evaporator. Looking over the wiring diagram the control comes from main board for the defrost element/heater to melt the ice on evaporator. If the evaporator is covered in ice you will need to defrost with a hair dryer and we will need to check the defrost heater with an ohm meter to make sure its OK first. If its OK then we need to visually look over the main control board for signs of heat or burn marks on both sides with power disconnected to the refrigerator. No defrost can cause this problem and the dampers from freezer if not opening properly will cause this. Let me know, Sea Breeze

In my side by side samsung RS2534WW the rerigerator is warm

I read elsewhere that if you hold the power cool and power freeze buttons down for 12 seconds it will restart the system. I did it the other day (because we were having the same issues) and it has seemed to work for the last few weeks. Frige temp stays at 34F and freezer temp stays at -2F

Samsung RS2534WW

Hello Mike , The main control board is on the right side in the back of the unit. look for where the power cord goes iunto the unit after you remove the cover on the back. there should be a large white plastic box on the right side. that is the main control board.

RS2534WW

I just had the exact same problem with my Samsung RS2534WW Fridge from Best Buy. I think the freezer seal was not totally shut and something inside was pushing against the door, so it couldn't close tightly, but was not open enough to trigger the chime alarm. In the morning, the freezer temperature display was blinking. Later on it settled around 59 degrees. Here's what seemed to work for my particular situation: First I pushed the ice selector button, from cube, to crushed, to No Ice. Then I unplugged the fridge for about 10 to 15 minutes. Next, I plugged it back in and held down the Power Freeze and Power Cool buttons simultaneously until the chime sound is heard. I read this should reset it, but my display turned completely off. So, I held in the Power Freeze and Power Cool buttons again and as soon as the display lit up, I let go. The freezer temperature no longer blinked and settled at 56 degrees. Next, I opened the lower service panel in the back. First, I verified the (evaporator) fan in the middle was running (it was). It seems to pull air in on the freezer side and blow it over the compressor and out the fridge side. The air intake side had a lot of dust, especially on the condenser coils, so I vacuumed it out. Next, I opened the freezer door and noticed a build-up of ice around the freezer air ducts in the back (both exhaust and intake vents). I then used my hair dryer to thaw out the ice and wiped up the water. Next, I closed the freezer door and the temperature read 59 degrees. It stayed on that temperature for 8 hours and then the temperature started to drop quickly and it returned to normal. At that point I turned the ice maker back on and it has been working fine ever since. Apparently, the unit has an 8-hour cool and defrost cycle. I read someone else turned off (unplugged) their fridge overnight with the doors open to let it defrost. When they plugged it back in the next morning, all was working fine. If those tips don't work, you may have a problem with either your cooling system or defrost system, or it could be something as simple as a blown thermal fuse. Hope that helps!
