Memory upgrade not working

I have upgraded my Gateway 450XL laptop memory, but the system is only recognizing 1 of the 2-512mb chips.

    Is there a way to upgrade the BIOS to allow for more memory on this Gateway 450 XL laptop

This Laptop cannot be upgraded to higher than 512mb of ram DDR SDRAM

It only Accepts two PC–2100 SDRAM memory modules..If both are same then the slot might have some problem...

Upgrading ram on laptop, new ram not recognized.


remove the bios battery for a few seconds...and place it back on ...this will make it see the new ram memory modules...if you are sure they are compatible ..they will work .....in fact ..the ddr1 333 512 M is more that compatible with your system and it will work after you remove the battery ...\ my recommendation is to reinstall a clean operation system after you boot up ...and format the C partition too...this have to be done after memory changes to get the max out of them ..

T22 Doesn't boot on Memory upgrade


First make sure the memory is the same PC 100 , then make sure the chips are fully seated. and try rebooting computer. If you mismatch the Dimms the memory wont be recognized by the computer.

Acer Aspire 5601 4GB memory upgrade problem


Acer systems are picky about the type of memory you use.
What is your RAM Speed on the old chips compaired to the new chip

You may have to reorder the same type of speed memory

Memory upgrade

Memory Problems for a Gateway Mx3215 Laptop


There are two different memory modules for that series.You can determine which you need by the chipset for you machine.If you have a Via VN800 Chipset You need the 1024MB-DDR333, 333MHz, PC2700, 200p SODIMM, 2.5v. If you have the NVIDIA nForce 410 Chipset The you need the 1024MB-533MHz DDR2-533 PC2-4200, 200p SODIMM, 1.8v Hope this clears up your problem
