Question about Frigidaire Refrigerators

1 Answer

I bought a Frigidare refrigerator today. Warranty needed?

Do I need to buy more years of warranty or not? If so, what 1 or 4 yrs for 5 year warranty? I had to replace a refrigerator Maytag of only 7yrs old that we think was a compressor. I can get just a warranty for the compressor only with (NO) labor included for 5yrs. Should I take just that warranty or get a full warranty for 5 yrs? I can't believe appliances don't last, like my first ones from the 1980's that last 20yrs!!!!!!! Please give me your best advice on this matter.

Its really just up to you. I am a service tech in grants pass oregon and i know compressors dont last anymore. Its because in the last 10 years they have switched from r12 freon to 134a. 134a has higher head pressures which make the compressor go out. If the compressor warranty isnt too much money i would do that warranty. You dont really need the others.

Amana washer machine 6 years old and need parts and labor will be cost around 350 or should I go ahead buy new one

It depends on the warranty they give you on the repair, some people will give from 30 days to 90 days of warranty, on a new machine it can be from 1 year to 2 yrs with an option to buy a maintenance plan.
with a long warranty that's piece of mind and insurance if it breaks, with a new one, it will be replaced or repaired @ no cost to you. if an old one is repaired and it breaks, who ever you paid to fix it can say its something else and cost you more in the long run, when for the same price you could have bought a new one. if you are fixing it yourself you save money by excluding your own work less parts. good luck!

Which is a wiser choice. To buy a microwave with a 1 year warranty or one with a 1 year limited warranty and a 5 year limited magnatron warranty? Thanks

I would buy the microwave oven that has the one year warranty because it covers your purchase 100% If you buy one with a one limited warranty you need to read the fine print what it does not cover, and the magnetron with a five year limited warranty sounds good but has restrictions on the actual coverage, meaning they can refuse the claim by saying it does not meet the criteria, because the "claus limited" has been put into place and is misleading.

Computer board went out. when you remove the computer it has a black mark behind it on the plastic housing. how long is the warranty on the comperssor of this refridgerator?

the compressor usually has 5 year warranty in fact the sealed sytem itself which includes the compressor .evap coil and usually the condenser coil has 5 years... the boards usually only have a 1 year parts warranty or up to a 5 year parts warranty but after the 1st year you are responsible for the labor on the board....the compressor though should be covered through amana for 5 years total cost... good luck to you....

My refrigerator's compresser is defected. i bought it before 4 & 1/2 yrs. many times i gava complaint to your call centers, showrooms, etc. but no one is responding. they are giving sily reasons. this...

Hi, read your complaint. If the frig. is 4.5 years old, their may still be a factory warranty on the compressor. You need to contact your nearest { brand } factory authorized servicecenter in your area to check on this. You will need the complete model number and serial number to give them. I know that a few years back, all frigs. went to a one year warranty. Whoever you contact can tell you if it is or isn't. If there is no warranty, contact a good reliable servicer to check the frig. out to make sure this is the problem. Hope this helps.

Sorry to read about your problem, I hope this helps you out.

you really do not have any recourse, I must admit you are eating up compressors. Most units now a days only carry a 1 year warranty. some of the better unit's carry a 5 year. It all boils down to, who did the first repair and their warranty.
But lets say you have a 5 year warranty. you dont keep getting a 5 year warranty on every compressor you get. you only get 5 years of total service.

2000 Fleetwood manufacturd home A/C repair is it still under warranty?

Did you buy it new? If you bought it new look at the warranty information that came with the home. Most of the time they generally had a 1 year warranty. The manufacturer of the ac probably had around a 5 year parts and a 10 compressor warranty. If they used a cheap builders model ac it may have been 1 year on everything. I would check with the manufacturer.

Hi, you did not say what part has bad bearings. You have the evaporator fan motor in the freezer, the condenser fan motor in the lower back and the compressor which also has valves and bearings. The only part That is covered in the years warranty is the compressor. You can buy an extended warranty for that for up to 4 years. The other motors I don't believe are covered at all, maybe in the first 30 days. That's not right I know, but that's how it works. They normally last for years?? Best of Luck, you may want to call the place you bought it from and talk to them about this motor. It is worth a try.
Sincerely,

Loud Rattling in the motor.

You could buy a new compressor/motor and pay for a service call to install it. You would get maybe a 1 year warranty on the repair.

You might as well buy another refrigerator. The new refrigerator will have a 3 or 5 year warranty and cost only a little bit more. Or, you could buy a second hand refrigerator from a thrift store or off Craigslist or out of the classifieds section of your local newspaper. This is by far the cheapest option. Even if the new(er) refrigerator only lasts 1 year, you will only have $100 in it. That's still less than the original repair bill.

Frigidare Refrig. S/S Model #FRS26HF6BW2/ Usefulness of extended warranties?

Hi Ginny, I am from the old school where I will fix anything. By definition the insurance companies are designed to make money from you (about 500%)...so I do not believe in extended insurance. I also don't buy new items, I like tried and trusted ones. ..Just my opinion (I am also a www.ebay.com and www.craigslist.com addict.
