YOU MAY HAVE A BLOWEN HEADGASKET OR INTAKE......ANTIFREEZE IS MIXING WITH YOUR OIL.....THATS WHAT GIVES YOU THAT MILKY COLOR ON YOUR DIP STICK....BUT IF YOU JUST CAUGHT IT ,,,IT CAN BE FIXED WITH OUT SPENDING ALOT OF MONEY
I was having the same problem with my 97 Cougar. I kept lossing antifreeze from the coolant storage. It turned out that I had a crack in the intake manifold. After rereplacing the manifold, it stopped lossing the antifreeze. I don't know if this helps, best wishes.
Sounds like bad head gasket,,,is it comeing out the tail pipe too?Put your hand close to exhaust let it plow on your hand for a few seconds if your hand smells like antifreeze yup its there also,,Pull your oil dip stick ,,is the oil milky or some whit stuff on it with oil ,,another sign of bad head gasket
What resivoir? Check for small leaks at the bottom. If it is the coolant resivoir and you can't find any leaks, check the level directly at the radiator when the unit is cold. Also check your oil and see if you have milky oil. If you have miky oil you most likely have a leaking head gasket.
the brown milky stuff is rust and you have mixed two different types of antifreeze together it formed a reaction, you will need to do a complete flush and top up with the correct antifreeze for your engine asap.DO NOT MIX ETHYLENE GLYCOL WITH ANY OTHER TYPE OF ANTIFREEZE..........
1-If you open your oil cap and seeing a milky stuff at the inside cap, then there is a leak in head gasket. coolant mixed with oil through head gasket leak then vaporize leaving the milky stuff at your cap.
2-If you don't see it then there is possible transmission get into water. When you are running, the pressure from transmission is higher than coolant pressure so it leaks into your coolant thru transmission cooling coil in the radiator.
3-Need to address this as soon as possible since chance of car not running in the middle of a trip is high also consequences of problems are more costly. Good luck.
