  • X_cutiepie_X Feb 20, 2009

Yes, I am having the same problem. Also, it shows weired screen every time I get a call or when I open the flip. It's nice phone but sick thing ever!!! Went to Sprint store and they suggested to send it to LG!!!

  • dena571 Feb 20, 2009

I've had my lotus since Xmas. About five days ago it kept losing my outer screen image and now my inner screen has red lines though it. And today I tried to charge it and it will not even charge.

  • Anonymous Feb 24, 2009

I know exactly what you guys are talking about. I had my lotus a bit before Xmas and I fell in love with it. Everytime I would go on the application Youtube, I'd flip through the videos and it would shut off the next second! Either that or it would take a while to load if I'm playing a game or something. I let that problem go twice then I took it in to get a new phone about two weeks later. Same exact problem now. Now it froze for good and won't even turn back on at all. I don't even know how to open the back to take out the battery.... I love my lotus but this is absolutely ridiculous!

  • sejohn Mar 03, 2009

my outside screen is blank now and will come on only rarely. Plus I was texting the other day and the text letters went all weird - like a fun house mirror. I'm heading back to Sprint. They had better replace it!

  • Anonymous Mar 05, 2009

my outter screen is black...doesnt texting gets wierd too sometimes, screen goes funny..what do i do?

  • Anonymous Mar 07, 2009

Same issue-- first the colors on the inner screen are going crazy, then the outer screen went blank. Tried taking out the card, the battery, nothing works. Starting to regret leaving T-mobile and their uber-reliable Nokias!

  • Anonymous Mar 11, 2009

Sounds like the same problem! The outer screen goes black, the inside screen becomes scrambled. If I take out the battery everything goes back to normal temporarily.

  • hibasweiss Mar 12, 2009

2 phones, same problem... i flip open my phone, the inside screen scrambles or has lines through it or is a different color or is flipped backward or is completely black. then occasionally the outer screen is either a solid gray or the info bar repeats its self. its different every time i flip open and close my phone.

once my phone is flipped open and working fine, i leave it open because im afraid i will loose my screen.

my IT group thinks it's the video line in the phone but sprint cannot explain it.

the first phone was exchanged because it was within the first 30 days i purchased it (day 29)

i've only had this second phone for 2 weeks. since i cannot make it in to a repair store, i have to pay the $50 insurance fee to get phone number 3.

    hopefully 3rd time is a charm :)

  • sgtortego Mar 15, 2009

I have the same exact issue.. I just email sprint tech support we will see what happens...

  • Anonymous Mar 19, 2009

My screen is flipping out as well. I have had the phone for 2 months and have never dropped it or mistreated it. The screen either does not come on or gets strange offsetting in the display. The pallet also appears to be messed up. The outer screen does not come on 80% of the time. I have called the main Sprint line and they pretty much said they would replace the phone. I called the store and they're like "we can look at it". My reaction is I want a new phone. We shall see how long it takes me to win this battle. Will I have to request to talk to "customer retention"? We shall see.

  • Anonymous Mar 22, 2009

this is a flaw in the design. they should swap out the phone. I sometimes can press end and it will reset and work for a day or two then it freezes again.

  • Anonymous Mar 26, 2009

Well, there ya go... got the phone Jan 2nd, today starting having same prob w/no outer screen display and inner screen scrambled. Not amused

  • snnckerz Mar 27, 2009

I'm having the same problem, and this is my second lotus that's doing it. The last time, it was still within my first 30 days and I was able to exchange it. But it also COMPLETELY stopped working last time, and the screen flipped upside down and went into negative colors, and when I took it in to the Sprint store and they reset it, it was upside down and in some crazy psychedelic colors.

What I think is weird is my other two friends who have the same phone have never had this problem!

I just hope they A.) Fix this! and B.) let me get a new phone, because it's not my fault.

  • Anonymous Mar 28, 2009

1st my outer screen went, then the inner screen. Had sprint order a new phone but saw that the new phones outer screen wasn't working when I got home. Back to sprint, 3rd phone should be here in a few days. All of this in under 2 months.

  • cocoi84 Mar 31, 2009

A few weeks ago the inner screen started showing up in negative, then sometimes odd bright colors, then it started to scramble (like a television channel that doesn't come in well) and now both my inner and outer screen are totally blank. At first if I flipped it open and closed several times it might come on or at least show up in negative, but now it is nothing at all. I can see light behind the screen and the music arrows still work (blink, red and green like they are supposed to) and the keypad lights are on, but the actual display does not come on.

  • steinerl72 Mar 31, 2009

My phone has the same problem i called sprint and they told me to go to a sprint repair store. I had my phone just over 2 mouths never dropped never hit but yet problems. I not happy at all with this the phone is nice but i expect more from and phone company like sprint.

frozen screen, scramble screen ( lg lotus)

  • auty_autkins Apr 05, 2009

I have the exact same problem. It was in my purse and I took it out opened it and the screen was black. Sometimes it would show up but then get fuzzy. Are you guys having problems getting Sprint to replace it or do you have to pay? I don't want to keep wasting money on the Lotus if it doesn't work!

  • momofbeeb Apr 06, 2009

I have the SAME PROBLEM!!! first the outer screen sent blank- then the weird colors and jagged lines. Now it only works 10% of the time! Most times its totall blank- i can answer the ringing phone but cant SEE texts, emails, anything!
I am going to Sprint tomorrow- I have had this phone since Feb. 18th - of course its past the 30 days- but I am persistant!!!

  • qtanel_sb Apr 06, 2009

Same problem, first the phone worked fine then the outter screen started to blank and a few weeks later the inside screen **** the bed! I'm so upset! I love this phone it's so cute, and I dont want to get a new phone until the palm pre comes out, so I dont know what to do. I talked to the manufacturer and they said they'd fix it or refurbish it but I have to wait14 days and I need my reciept and I dont even have it cause I threw it away! Uggghhhhh so frustrated!

  • danielle9969 Apr 09, 2009

Had the same problem with the LG Lotus screens. I've had this phone for less than 30 days, so I'm waiting on a replacement. In the meantime, I keep the phone open and the larger screen doesn't black out or scramble...defeats the purpose of having a flip phone, but works until my replacement arrives. Sometimes I forget and close it, but taking out the battery, replacing it and turning the phone back on fixes it.

  • Staceykins Apr 13, 2009

I have the same exact problem. Phone screen has been messing up, first just the outside screen now the main screen. It freezes, scrambles or just is black screen. I have only had this phone for a little over a month now!! I'm going to sprint today and they better fix it! I paid cash full price for this phone!!

  • Anonymous Apr 16, 2009

same problem then screen went black, heard it's a common problem with these phones due to the wiring

  • jacquelin809 Apr 20, 2009

My phone just have the LG Lotus screen.. nothing else. Can't turn off unless i take out the battery. I can turn back on but thats it.

  • Anonymous Apr 27, 2009

I've encountered the same issue. the screen gets scrambled like the old school tvs. then it goes back to normal for a second when i start typing on the keypad. Now its just blank. nothing on the screen. I spoke to LG and they said to send it to them somewhere in Huntsville Alabama. Hope they recall these phones and fix this issue. its definitely not an isolated incident.

  • Anonymous Apr 29, 2009

my outer screen went on and off and then completely blank! and then today my main screen was all scrambled like bad reception tv! and now its completely blank! im really upset!!! does anyone have a solution???

  • Anonymous Apr 30, 2009

This phone is ****! my screen keeps going blank and scrambling for no reason, I'm watching TV and all of a sudden this happens! had it for 2 weeks and never dropped it or anything! how do you fix this problem and if it does get fixed does it even last? if not ill be getting another phone immediately!

  • Anonymous May 04, 2009

I am actually on my second phone and right now on the phone with my wireless supplier. Since the first time it broke in 28 days, they sent me a new its been 32 days and they dont want to send me a new one. I ask for a different phone...their answer is basically F*** are stuck with a shitty phone!

  • Anonymous May 06, 2009

my Lotus is doing the EXACT same thing.

  • Anonymous May 07, 2009

All i can say is ditto, blank screen both main screen and outter. I'm on my 2nd phone in 45 days. Too bad cause it is a cute and user friendly phone.

  • Anonymous May 08, 2009

I just started having this problem last week, and it got progressively worse. It started out with distorted images of my screen on the main screen and then the outer screen started getting distorted. Then it slowly progressed to my main screen blacking out every time I opened my phone....Now my outer screen remains black and the main screen goes to normal once in a blue moon, otherwise it's usually black, but sometimes it opens up to a fuzzy image of what my main screen used to look like. I've only had this phone for 1.5 mths. It's so really sucks that it's having these issues. Unfortunately I don't think I'm going to waste my time getting a replacement, I think I will just get a different phone. :(

I am on my 3rd LG Lotus and have had the exact same issues with my screen with all of them...freezing up, blank/black screen, and the picture being all scrambled, or even funky colors. This is all due to LG's brilliant design of the hinge on the phone. Notice how when you have the phone open the top part (with the screens) has a bit of give in it if you push on it? That "give" is the hinge pinching the wire that supplies electricity/data to the screens. LG has designed the hinge so poorly that it cannot withstand normal wear and tear of being opened and closed for even a few weeks before it begins to fail. Shame on you LG!! I smell a lawsuit coming on.....

As far as a solution, there isn't really one except for get a new phone if you can. Maybe even get the warranty on it (something like $7 a month plus a crazy deductible between $50-$100). After fixing it 1 or 2 times, you could have purchased a different phone. This is really upsetting because the Lotus is such an awesome design. LG, I hope you are reading this.

My LG Lotus when i turn it on stays on the original LG LOTUS screen and freezes, any ideas on how to fix it? i was text messaging and my phone froze and shut off. when i turned it back on it stayed...

Ugh. The same exact thing happened to mine. I am so incredibly angry and frustrated! I heard that trying a new battery might work... I tried my sister's battery, since she has the same phone, and it was no go for me, but you ought to give it a try if you can... I did everything I could to try and fix it, but it won't do anything else!

Distorted screen

Turns out it is a defect in the phone. I traded for another Lotus; it doesn't happen to all of them and hopefully it won't happen with my new one.

My LG Lotus main display just stopped working in the middle of a text I have tried turning it off and taking out the battery if I filp the phone open the screen lightens but doesn't display anything

Take it to a sprint store that has a repair center (check and click "Find a store on the top right corner for which store in your area has the repair centers). They will fix it for free or for $35. Sprint is the only national carrier to support instore repairs, and I praise them for this.

Mine did the same so I swopped the battery with wifes phone (which is the same) and mine worked like normal, i took it back to the store and they gave me a new battery but before that i played around with the usb cable and it was charging up and holding a charge so it's something to try.
