Hi!

If the light on the power in connector is not flashing, the power supply is most likely good.

Does the carriage move when you open the cartridge access? If it does, turn off the power. Open the cartridge access and check if the carriage is locked to the right in the service station. If it is not locked, suspect a gummed up service station or a failed service station motor

The carriage does hold the ink cartridges. If the carriage does not lock to the right in the service station when the printer is powered down normally, you have a problem. Does the carriage go to the far right as if trying to dock in the service station?

Service station has two purposes: To clean the printhead nozzles and to cap the nozzles to keep them from drying out when the printer is idle. The cleaning and capping involves a motor and some mechanical widgets. It is the capping function that locks the carriage in place and i think your capping part is jammed

As I mentioned, the motor has either failed or the service station is gummed up with ink. The cleaning process causes congealed ink to accumulate over time. If the service station is gummed up and/or the motor has failed, it should be removed and cleaned, not extactly a simple or clean job. It involves removing the case and partially disassembling the print mechanism.

It will pull to one side if the rubber roller on that side is coated with dust or is used up on some parts.

HP Photosmart 2610xi is printing but it does not keep the left margin aligned - it typically floats progressively to the right but sometimes wanders back and forth. Also about mid-way through each line...

You need to clean the encoder strip, that's the clear strip that runs behind the carriage assembly, you can clean it with a Q-tip damp with alcohol, the strip is fragile so don't press too hard. If you look with a flashlight you should see the area that needs cleaning.

Printer keeps saying carriage jam

I hate to state the obvious, but maybe your printer has a carriage jam. Fortunately, HP.com publishes a web page that can tell you how to clear the problem:

Good luck.

Issues with my HP Photosmart PSC 7280

I had the same problem. You can access the carriage from the back of the printer. I actually had a jam , however just as you exposing the carriage from the front I did not see a thing.
